(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests

I want to drag tabs out of a window to create a new window with that single tab.. like most browsers do. Is there a specific reason why Vivaldi doesn't do that?

The big one I would love to see would be tiered folders and recognition of subfolders in the bookmarks bar. If I click the address bar icon to save a bookmark, it shows all my folders and subfolders as being on the same tree level, and as someone who for a few things has 3-4 levels of folders to sort out my bookmarks, it gets really slow to find the right folder.
In the bookmarks 'main view' it would be nice to have sort by name and have it group folders visually above the bookmarks in the same order, so folders A-Z then bookmarks A-Z, or folders Z-A then bookmarks Z-A. Sorting by type makes it a lot faster I find to hop to the subfolder when I am using the panel or full new tab bookmark view instead of sorting the folders by name distributed throughout the bookmarks.
A certain circle browser and one with a fox icon I find to have exceptional sorting. The backup options of the animal one is very nice to save my bookmarks and would be nice to have, and the circle logo of four colors one I find has absolutely ideal bookmark sorting. As someone who really relies on ease of sorting bookmarks it's the one thing keeping me from switching full time, even though circle logo one keeps losing folders and I have to do daily backups and restorations. The name sorting, folder sorting and subfolder showing in the add a bookmark view is genuinely essential enough to me that I'd like to request it so I can just be rid of the constant losses of bookmarks. -
In Future, the Master-Password function are good!
But now, i Use Vivaldi every day!
When the Email function is on board - then i can fully replace opera 12x -
Suggestions I feel are important:
- Way to more easily hide the sidebar, preferably a button in the bookmarks bar to collapse and expand the whole thing (Instead of Shift+CMD+P, which doesn't work for me anyway :?).
- User function. Some way to store different sets of cookies, at least. I need some way to manage my multiple accounts, and that's hard if I gotta log in and out that much, would rather temporarily change ti Chrome.

Please two features I use with Opera:
-
Possibility to open many local html-files with drag and drop to browser window
-
Possibility for an individual editor or viewer for source code
-
-
Possibility to open many local html-files with drag and drop to browser window
Press the Enter key, or use Right-click, Open.
-
"Paste and go" in the search engine text field.

Yes, but this only works when Vivaldi is the main webbrowser.
I have solved it for me with a link in "send to".
But at least under windows it should work with drag and drop.

I have just downloaded Vivaldi - having fun tinkering around with the browser.
Linux Mint is my OS and i am still using Opera 12.16.
I have tried the latest Linux Opera 36 32bit release - and hated the experience. All i can say is the more customization i can have the better
Any chance adding bookmarks to the main menu bar just like Opera 12.16
I like to access bookmarks this way - i find it simple, fast and efficient.
With the same options to manage bookmarks just like Opera 12.16.Looking forward to the full stable release

There should be some way to disable all flashing, animated images, zooming maps, the ridiculous zooming icons in the "speed dial" page, etc. I am just trying Vivaldi, but it's enough to give me a migraine. I am going to have to keep looking for an accessible browser given my sensory/neurological issues.
-
When I open a folder from my bookmarks bar and middle click a link, a new Tab should be opened with the clicked url.
-
I am also for "Block Content" that the old Opera had, as well as the other right-click options.
I use Block Content all the time on Opera, and it is one of the main reasons I stuck with the old Opera 12 rather than going to another browser such as SeaMonkey (whose predecessor Netscape, when it foundered, originally led me to Opera).
Content blockers are not an acceptable equivalent. -
My most wanted feature is Multiple User Profiles!

When I download a file, I'd like to choose between the next options:
1.- Open: Open file in a temp folder and erase it when I close the file
2.- Save: Save the file in a predetermined location
4.- Save as: Choose a location for saving the file
5.- Cancel: Stop downloading processI really like Vivaldi except for this lack of feature
Thank you -
In approximate order of importance.
0. Address bar auto dropdown off.
1. The animated sound icon on tabs: stop animating it. Also applies to other annoying animations like the zoom on speed dial. Open/close panel. Finally we have adblock and now the browser starts jumping!
2. The fonts. Fix them. The web is all about text and the font rendering in Vivaldi (and all Chromium based browsers) is horrific. Linux comes with freetype, that with some configuration can render most fonts well, and MS hinted fonts perfectly. Stop using your own home-grown very much sub-par solution. Speaking of sub, BGR subpixel order isn't supported, but would be with freetype.
3. New tab button must stay in one place. Having it move around (moves with every tab you add) breaks spatial memory. I prefer it leftmost on the address bar toolbar.
^ The above are show-stoppers that prevent me from using Vivaldi as a primary browser.
4. Bookmarks! There is no bookmarks menu. I don't want a panel. Also applies to downloads, put them in a tab.
5. The way open/close panel animation affects the page is very annoying. The whole page jumps.
6. The idea of coloring tabs based on the page is poorly executed. First, my browser window is not a clown. Use a subdued shade of the color, not a fully saturated color. Second, only apply it to the tab, not the address bar toolbar. Third, it currently only colors the active tab. That completely defies any purpose. I know which page I'm on. This feature is only useful to quickly recognize the content of other tabs, to avoid having to read the tab text of every tab. Apply the color to inactive tabs.
7. Tab stacking: Can't drag tab out of stack. Also, the "bars" above the tab disappear when the the main menu is active.
8. Double clicking on the tab bar should create a new tab, not randomly alternate between doing nothing and unmaximizing the window.
9. Tab open position and which tab to focus after close options. Like "open new tab to the right of current".
10. Proper privacy settings:
- Stop asking me whether to save passwords.
- Delete browsing and download history when closing the browser (no, this isn't the same as private browsing mode)
- Don't save form data
(Look at how firefox does it)
Remove the home and reload buttons from the toolbar. Toolbar customization.
Use dots (…) instead of the fadeout effect when the title is too long for the tab. Much more readable.
13. MMB on back/forward buttons and their menus doesn't work (I expect open in new tab).
14. Middle click to pan.

Hi, I love the work the team has put into this browser and having improved a lot since I started to switch from firefox since TP1. (firefox was still used as TP1 had a lot of issues). Now that it is stable, I have began to use this as my main browser and I still miss 1 feature from firefox, tab groups. Even though mozilla reports that not many users are using it, I still love it as it helps saves more tabs in session without the need of bookmarking it to read it later.

+1
In addition to that I would like to have the possibility to expand the stacked tabs (like you could do it in Opera 12) or enable tab popup thumbnails for stacked tabs only. -
Can I also write here about bugs and glitches or this is thread for new features only?
