(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
1: Double screen usage, primarily having the main Vivaldi window on one display and getting the active tab's web page shown (preferably fullscreen) on the other display. Kind of like the Fast Stone Image Viewer does it.
2: Expanded tab management mixed with sessions/bookmarks/notes etc.
I want to stack my tabs, name and colour code the stacks and be able to drag them to a session archive in the same intuitive way as the notes worked in O12. Preferably I'd like to have browsing notes saved in the session, and my relevant bookmarks.
Basically one big data repository where I can store everything about my browsing frenzies in nicely sortable compartments. -
+1 on Sessions.
A great feature of Opera 12. -
1. Dark scrollbars in dark theme
2. There is option for smooth scrolling but there is something weird about it. It sometimes scrolls Hypersmooth (mostly from top of the page) and sometimes normal. I would really appreciate to add option to disable that Hypersomooth scrolling. It's annoying with fastscroll wheel on logitech mouse, when you scroll fast to bottom of page but it just scrolls Hypersmooth slowly so you just have to wait until scrolling ends even though you are not scrolling … yeah, it's as weird as my description
3. Open bookmarks from left panel with single click
4. When opening bookmark as new list with middle button, it opens at background. I'd like to have it opened in foreground.
5. I have issues with playing some videos. It may be only flash issue, because twitch.tv and youtube.com is allright, but if you try for example http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/porady/10095426857-interview-ct24/ it is imposible to use video interface and if you switch to fullscreen, it runs at background -
Hi, is it just a missing feature or weird settings on my side, but I cannot just left click the tab and drag and drop it to the second monitor which opens new window with this tab. This works fine with Opera and if it is a missing feature I would like to request it unless someone else already did.
Thanks.

Since it is not possible anymore to set tabs to a fixed width with a custom CSS modification (it was apparently possible to do so in earlier technical previews), this also stops users from displaying their tab-bar in a multi-row style. Thus I would love for Vivaldi developers to take this up and add the option directly into the browser. Multi-row tabs are one essential feature for power users, because the Chrome-like tab-bar becomes unusable after two dozen tabs or so. While stacking helps somewhat, it's not the best way to go in my opinion.
Agree!

First I'd like to stress, that I love that you added option to open new tab next to current.
But I think it needs to be followed with more tab options, to really make it usable to full potential (opera 12 was good, but you can improve further).
First, option is needed, which tab is shown when the current one is closed. At the moment, tab next to active is shown, which is cool when new tabs are opened on the right end, since it puts you into the tab opened after the current one, so it does not disturb workflow… but if I open new tabs next to active and then I opened multiple links from a tab and then go to the most right one of them (the first opened), I should after closing it, be shown either the next tab I opened (time wise), or the tab from which I opened this (the one I'm closing) tab.
Also I hope the idea of automatic tab stacking is not forgotten. But the main idea - feature request I have, can in a way solve some aspects of quite a few tab problems with not much work (at least I think so):
Add an option to colour paint tabs in the order they were last shown. Or at least mark somehow the last tab shown before the current one.
Use case:
I have ~30 tabs open. 3 are standard on the most left (tabs I have always open (like pinned, but not actually pinned)), then I was doing research in few different areas, and for each area I have ~10 tabs open. Lets say I'm doing something in a tab 17 (from left to right) and I see a new notification in the tab 1... I go to tab 1, do stuff and then I want to return to what I was doing before in tab 17, but it's very hard to find exactly the 17th one and it would be a great help if it was somehow marked (maybe painted in a different colour or something).
I think it's hard to argue this does not make sense. But maybe it would be better to do it for more than just the previous active tab, but for last 3 for example, making the 3rd and 2nd ones more pale or something.I hope I was clear enough, if not, I'm willing to evaluate further.

Cookie management:
It's hard work to delete a lot of cookies but retain a few desirable ones.
You can delete all (not always desirable), or you can delete one-by-one using a rather ugly interface that requires a lot of mouse movement and clicking.
Filtering by domain is of limited value.
Please: a means of selecting multiple cookies and deleting them all with one click.
Better: as above but with a much better interface please
Best: as above but with ability to "protect" some cookies

I miss these Opera 12's features:
-
plug-in: click to play
-
View page in Author mode or User mode with one click
-
Create / Customize toolbar

I don't know if someone has already thought of these ideas:
- Add bookmarks should have folders tree for search between subfolders. Now only display all folders, and we don't know which folders are inside each.
- Show in address bar if the site has been written is in bookmarks showing a star at the end of the address (like firefox). Actually, we don't know if it's in our bookmarks, only if we go to the site.
- Option to display developer tools dock inside the browser, bottom or right location (like chrome). It's a little bit annoying to have the dev tools in a new window when using a small screen and it doesn't fit well when dividing the screen in two.
And my last suggestion: upload vivaldi code to github and let the community help and improve this incredible browser.

Mouse wheel click in History tab to open a link in a new tab. This is the normal behaviour, why is it different in History?
-
Please add "Zoom" option by holding down CTRL and scrolling with the mouse wheel. All other browser has this, and it's super useful.

For the time being, you can use ctrl+shift+scrollwheel

Please add a function to save a complete web page as a single file. (Typically a .mht file)

I second the request for choosing which tab gets focus when you close your current one. The Chrome way (you switch to the next tab on the right) is the best way:
It allows you to open multiple tabs and then easily read them in order, closing them one by one.
Right now I go hell knows where when I close a tab. I kinda understand the logic behind it (it reminds me of pre-Blink Opera days), and it's terribly inconvenient.
EDIT: also, can new tabs get opened next to the one I'm opening them from (in a line, one after another)? Right now, if I have 5 tabs and I open something from Tab#2, it spawns as Tab#6, not as Tab#3 (which is preferred).

I can't believe that I haven't seen anyone who is missing the possibility to drag and drop stuff directly FROM the download-panel.
For exampel if I download a pdf I want to be able to drag that from the panel instead of browsing after the file.
Or a nzb-file straight to my download-queue.Now I have to "Browse after files, go do the download-folder and choose the file".
It's not difficult but it's a tedious process that I left behind two years ago while I was using Chrome. Also, what's the point of dragging an url to the tab-section to open a new tab?
Just scroll-click the url instead, or am I missing something?Cheers!

First, thanks for the great work: Vivaldi has almost instantly become my favorite browser, and it even gets better!
Two things that are little annoyances to me, and for which I'd love to see preferences:
- I'm on a Mac, and when I command-click on a link, it opens in a background tab. This is not the behaviour I'm used to, and it would be really nice to have a preference to display the tab at once. I have all my browsers configured this way, and having to remember to do command+shift+click on Vivaldi is a little bit annoying.
- The ability to switch tabs via the mousewheel in the tab bar is probably a very nice thing for some users, but for me, it's a bit of a nightmare: the so-called Apple 'Magic Mouse' uses the whole surface of the mouse to scroll, and it's extremely sensitive. So I very often end up switching tabs when it's not what I want to do. An option to disable tab-switching with the mousewheel would be very nice, please…
Thanks!

Download same file type into last folder used by that file type. Firefox does this and I think it's pretty great idea.
