(History of) Vivaldi Feature Requests
-
I believe it's time for Vivaldi guys to start to write some manuals/helps, things like this (or like the middle click) are all but obvious for people who never used opera, or a definite opera function.
I would rather they spend their precious time bug fixing and adding new features for a month or two yet. Writing manuals is waste of time until the software is almost finished.
A collection of hints and tips on a blog would be very useful. Anyone seen Tamil yet?

Maybe someone could pop over to Opera and give him a pokeβ¦

Well, I used the word guys and not coders purposely.
An experienced person should be hired to do that job, which is an important job like coding itself. Often bright projects are doomed because this is not clear to the developers or the companies leaders.
And yes, Vivaldi is a work in progress, as translator I had to redo the work for some sections two or three times, but redoing a piece of the work is way better than leaving the whole program untranslated, the same should apply to the documentation.

Man this browser has already come a long way in the last month or two! Much better now than the initial release.
One small issue I didn't see requested.
If I make a new tab and want to search, in the old Opera (and even Firefox), I can hit ctrl+t and then hit TAB once and start typing.
TAB once in vivaldi just highlights the search icon in the search box, and typing either does nothing, or if you're unlucky, you hit a keyboard shortcut there and "something" happens.
I use that search box multiple times, every single day. The search dropdown I use 1 time ever when I first get the browser installed and set my engine. Can we just take it out of the TAB button cycle? I would say "ok, I'll just learn it the other way" but my work computers and various other computers I use all work the same way.

Ok, I just thought of one more feature request:
I miss the little drop down arrow in the address bar that let you just browse your recently typed in urls, etc. That one I actually used sometimes, and I always turned it back on in Opera and Firefox. Can we get an option to have that address bar arrow button back?

In the meantime, Middle-click on link opens in background, as in most browsers.
Thank you for the hint! I didn't know that! And it works!
-
On tab click:
Activates OR hides it and shows previous active tab.
A niceway to "reverse" back to point of origin (when using 999 tabs t's easy to get lost! It's why I dislike all browsers except - Yes - Opera has it.

Hello everyone, first post.
Tab bar can display only so much of <title>. How about when you have several tabs open from the same domain the matching parts from the beginning of the title strings would be cut and the rest shown on the tab bar.</title>

Firstly a massive thank you to everyone involved in this browser! It's only months old and is already becoming better than the rest, faster than the rest
Things I would like to see:
Double click a tab to close
Customisable speed dials (size, columns, rows, background picture, take snapshot of webpage and use as thumbnail)
Built in FTP client
Mobile version (that syncs across platforms)For the rest - keep up the amazing work, I love it so far - it's a great mix of features! I have been using maxthon for some time now as Opera just doesn't do it for me any more but maxthon is not so stable on linux and the look and feel is different which spoils it a bitβ¦...plus you still support us poor old 32Bit guys
-
1. Double click a tab to close. Already there
2 Customisable speed dials -
I did try it - doesn't work for meβ¦.......is there a setting somewhere??

It's in the more recent versions. If you downloaded from the intro page, you're on apx version 118. If you go to the Vivaldi Team Blog you can download version 142.32.
And yes, there is a setting for it, in the main menu Tools/Settings under "Tabs."

Shift + Click on Tabs should select a range of tabs. Currently it only adds the tabs to the selection so to stack or tile lots of tabs takes lot of clicks.

Also the selection by mouse (like in image editing or file managers) should be implemented to make the selection paradigm fully working and in line with other programs.

Hi,
Settings
- set different default download-directory.
- option to take it always, or ask every time
TIA.

i'd love to go beck to the previous folder/home by pressing backspace key or using my mouse when i'm in a speed dial folder.
that would be great. (;

I really wish they'd make this a priority, seeing as it's at least partially implemented already (albeit, likely only due to using Blink). It's the only thing preventing me from using Vivaldi as my full-time browser, and thus prevents me from helping development by reporting bugs
Not being able to use uBlock and Ghostery, and also adjusting them (they both install fine), is a deal-breaker for me.
