Panels, Tabs, Calendar and Mail improvements – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2339.3
-
@janrif You said you updated on Fri, and two days before that. The closest earlier update was on the 15, but you may have updated it late, OR, you're not updating Snapshot and Stable versions over each other are you?
-
I think it might be Sync-related - I disabled Sync half an hour ago and haven't had a crash since. Also, it had kind of stuck - Vivaldi Snapshot (the problematic one) was reporting that everything was fine, but creating new bookmark folders didn't propagate them across other instances (and in turn Vivaldi Stable was reporting conflict with another client's data).
-
[macOS] Proprietary media does not play on macOS 10.11 (VB-80757)
Just to report, I still have issues with it. (when I reported the bug ticket sent was VB-80861, don't know if it's the same one or not).
-
My history just deleted all the way back to December 31, 2019. Yet I still have history before that date, too.
Great.
-
My bad, false positive, sorry; it was a conflict with a Mail shortcut (which in turn brings me to the feature request that shortcuts should have context sensitivity
).
-
Just tested that and you seem to be right - e.g. links only open on the up event; hadn't really noticed.
-
@ayespy I don't believe I am mixing two versions. Current Snapshot is located at:
C:\Users\Office\AppData\vivaldi_snapshot\Application
-
[Mail] Certain emails not visible with a dark theme (VB-64824)
This problem persists. Thank you.

@killchain: Hi, yeah, that is a known chromium 92 issue

@killchain Tx. Would a total white screen be a chromium issue as well? I've had both.

Thanks for the update!
Is it just me, or is anyone else getting dead canary (the black screen with a dead bird) screen once every often on specific websites after this update?
Specific websites (at least for me) include Google Calendar and GitHub, as far as I know.
I downgraded to the previous snapshot and the problem hasn't occurred since, so I think the problem is related to one of the changes introduced in this snapshot, but I'm still not sure...
Using Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7If anyone else is getting the same problem, I'll go ahead and submit a bug report
-
I'm mostly certain now that this is Sync-related, and it just started affecting Vivaldi Stable too for me.
-
I just noticed that closing the folder with the left arrow in the bookmarks in the sidebar doesn't work.
-
@killchain: I had the same problem. This last snapshot randomly stopped on its own. I spent my Sunday analyzing, and it is indeed the sync that stops Vivaldi. The sync is then damaged and even affects the synchronized stable version. Even resetting the data remotely, it ends up crashing. I turn off sync and everything is fine.
In conclusion, something about this last snapshot affects the sync.
-
Turning off sync in all my instances has cured the problem for me. (It did bork one of my profiles, but fortunately I could restore).
After restore, I found the issue with white screen as well.
Hitting the refresh button caused instant crash, ...
... BUT, placing the cursor in the address bar and hitting return would cause the page to reload properly. Have to do it for every single tab, however!

The recent import fix seems to be working. I wasn't able to import from M2 before. The import would just hang and nothing would import. Now the status bar is showing the import being performed. Looks like it could take a long time, but so far so good.
I'm late to the party (been "away" since Friday) but if it was related to feeds then that could explain why I had to re-try dozens of times as well. I did manage to get it to work two times, though.

FWIW this laptop showed a sync conflict when I started it this morning and still shows broken sync now I've updated the snapshot. In other words, the sync issue is there for me but was not linked to the update...

@aronand: Cool, thanks for confirming!

Oops... I reset sync from the snapshot on my work laptop and now my phone stable and snapshot crash ten seconds after trying to sync. Had to disable sync to get to post this.
Haven't tried with other desktop snapshots or stable installs.

@killchain: yes, there we're lossing few milliseconds of speed... for me seems very smart using down_event instead of up_event. This make feels Vivaldi faster
