gmail SMTP problem with outgoing mails
-
Hi,
I am using the latest Vivaldi 4.0.2312.27 (Stable channel) (64-bit), and has a problem with sending mails via mail client. When I try to send any mail it is just stuck in the Outbox folder and not send out.
I am using Gmail corporate account with 2FA, incoming mails working fine and I don't see any notification or exceptions under the settings.
Any input will be warm welcomed.

I had the same problem, but I am not sure if our causes are the same. Readdding all my accounts fixed it: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/62556/emails-are-not-sent?_=1624031610671

@alextim Same problem with a 34SP.com account, so it's not just GMail.
Set up Vivaldi Mail with IMAP instead of my usual POP3. Followed the instructions (same as TBird, really) and it picks up mail fine.
But it won't send. No error messages. No beep! It just leaves the outgoing email in the Outbox.
smtp.34sp.com 465 SSL/TLS with correct username/password.
Tried StartTLS but it makes no difference.
Tried port 587 with and without SSL/TLS, but it makes no difference.Sending just silently fails.

@brianlj Whoa!
Following another thread, advice was given how to get IMAP logging.
"Open Vivaldi Settings → Mail
In section Mail Settings tick "Turn on IMAP logs"
Close Settings
Open in Vivaldi address field chrome://flags/#debug-packed-apps
Set to Enabled.
Restart Vivaldi" and so on for other thingsBut... I was following the instructions and got as far as the restart (Relaunch) when, the instant Vivaldi restarted, I got a "1 Message Sent" popup!
Now, when I create and Send an email, it goes straightaway - just as it should!
I shall leave logging on for a while to see how slow it makes things, then try taking it off and seeing if Send fails again.

This latter change - Turn on IMP logs & set to enabled for the debug-packed-apps flag worked for me too! Thank you!

@hodkiewicz welcome to the Vivaldi forum!
It seems that your issue, while with Gmail, has no relation to the Vivaldi browser and integrated mail client - in fact, Vivaldi is not even available for the iPhone. So this is not the best place to look for a solution to the problem you see. The one thing that may be similar is that Gmail has to be set to allow "less secure" third party apps (= apps that Google doesn't care about or does not want to support). Since your iPhone is an older model, that may also apply to you.
If you run into trouble with Vivaldi on your PC or Mac, make sure to pop in here and get help
