rumble videos not playing
-
Page is loaded, play button is pressed, then nothing. I can play the exact same video in safari without delay. When played in safari, there is a short ad before the video plays
-
Do you have an example url?
Any extensions, and what is the ad setting for rumble site? -
I've got the same issue post updating to 5.2.2623.36 (Stable channel) (x86_64) on Mac 10.15.3. Rumble videos no longer play regardless of parameter settings. It used to work fine prior to the updates that they rolled out recently in 4/22 however.
One can disable all plugs and allow for zero blocking and allow Rumble into the friendly list etc. and nothing happens.
But, it's not just occurring there it is also occurring on Facebook Messenger and Facebook's video feeds as well. About the only thing that works is Google's YouTube for videos on my end. Nothing else (so far) works.
Makes one wonder if it "may" have something to do with the new Google Chromium engine updates underneath that causes videos to longer work.
Safari however, works 100% in all instances.

Is this the site?
https://rumble.com
I tried one video and it played fine.
Try clearing cache and cookies for the site.

I have Vivaldi set to not store cookies to avoid that issue of outdated cache and cookies.
Not only wouldn't play videos on Rumble but also Facebook. I had to reset the hardware acceleration back to override the built-in software renderer along with enabling the custom flag again.
Now it fires all videos and GIFs immediately. Before, it just sat there at 0:00 while the pause icon was displayed. Nothing loaded - nothing ever happened.

@chrismckenna Not storing cookies has nothing to do with the cache and sometimes blocking cookies will cause sites to not work.
-
@Chas4 I hear ya. By rule of thumb on all my rigs cookies are set to accept all - they're not blocked. They're just not stored when exiting the browser. They're merely allowed for the session. Once the user exits the browser both the cookies and cache are deleted.
This setting choice of the end user under parameter settings avoids the issue of having to clear them in the future. This alleviates the need to clear them manually.
It wasn't a cookie or cache issue in this instance but something associated with the GPU playback not functioning. Once the two parameter changes were made the videos played immediately. Conversely, when reverting back to the stock settings, the playback on all images - including animated GIF images and videos in all settings minus YouTube stopped working.
One can conclude that it wasn't a cache or cookie problem when 100% (with exception of YouTube) failed in the same manner.
The first thing I had done was to exit the browser and reboot the system and retest - no change was noted initially. Then it was on to testing Firefox & Safari on the same websites. No issues were reported there thus indicating there was something up with Vivaldi in particular - typically a parameter setting or plug-in will cause that to occur. Either blocking software plugs or like you said, blocking 3rd party cookies or cookies in general or corrupt / outdated cache and or cookies.
In my case the root problem was associate with the GPU parameters and flags.
