How to restore bookmarks

Hello,
I spent a couple of days to update my bookmarks. Almost done, I didn't realize that trash has been on top of all bookmarks. I thought When empty trash only the trashed ones will be deleted. However, instead all bookmarks are gone.
Unfortunately sync function to my second laptop working with LINUX didn't work. Therefore I don't have any backup locally.Is there any chance to recover the trashed bookmarks and if so, how can it be done?

Hi, search for the file Bookmarks.bak in your user directory, I don´t know the location on Windows.
Copy it to a save place, rename it to Bookmarks and overwrite the file in the originale directory.
You can also use the Bookmarks file from you Linux laptop.Cheers, mib

Hi, thanks for that.
Bowever bookmarks.html at my user directory contains only the old not updated ones imported from Google Chrome two years ago.
On my LINUX laptop I couldn't find any bookmarks and I didn't use it on Vivaldi there because the sync didn't work.
Any other idea? -

There are two files, Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak were the .bak is a backup.

I thought I had lost all of my bookmarks after a new Windows install, due to having my vivaldi password but not having the separate decryption password. I had no idea the latter is a thing.
