Calendar - wheel mouse scroll through months

I suppose I'm so used to the Sunbird / Thunderbird behaviour of visually scrolling through some months using the mouse wheel.

If I have to touch the mouse then I'd like to be able to use it's varied inputs and not have to maneuver the pointer to an on screen arrow and push that. How droll. <g>

I've discovered I may use the Page Up / Down keys, however if I've had to switch to the mouse it would still be kind to have that input.

This is something that we have discussed before. It is complicated a little, both technically and UX wise, by the fact that views can require scrolling to see all content.

There is a ticket to implement it in our issue tracker so we will get to it sometime, but it might a while until we get to it.

I've been using the calendar in Thunderbird for a while, and while it's good not having to find and click a button to move to another month, I really dislike the fact that it jumps from one month view to the next. That makes it much harder to see follow continuous processes/series/etc over several months, or count the number of weeks between two dates in different months.

I'd love to be able to smoothly scroll through a month, and at the end simply smoothly scroll on into the next month, and so forth. I suspect the reason why so few calendars allow this is that the view of the upcoming and previous months/weeks need to be ready for display at all times, but given how many websites have infinite scrolling these days (and they need to reload stuff from the server), that must be solvable.

Continuous scrolling is a feature that I'd also like to have, and I am optimistic that we will implement it at some point. As you point out this is not trivial, especially calculating the recurring events could prove a challenge. So it will probably not be coming very soon, but it is on our agenda.

Is it possible to implement that scrolling performs the same action as Page Up / Page Down in month view as per @jerskine's request?

Personally I'm not interested in a continuous visual scroll within the view itself. I just want to be able to flick between whole months easily if that makes sense.
