Telegram notification is not displayed in panel - Linux
-
While in Windows a small red dot is visible on the button for new Telegram posts, there is no display in Linux Mint.
Neither in 3.7 nor in 3.8.
I had asked this - in general - for all social media webpanels before here.
It already works for WhatsApp, but not otherwise.
Telegram would be nice, after all it works in Windows. -
@Gwen-Dragon Panels can show notifications, it’s just that for some sites they can’t including Vivaldi Forum. Native notifications in theme highlight color seem to be shown for instance.
-
@Gwen-Dragon There is a detect page title notifications setting for web panels too. Shouldn’t that operate independently?
-
@Gwen-Dragon @luetage
I only understand half at most.
If I enable / allow notifications in the web page, then there is a greater chance that I see anything on the buttons (or tabs).
But in the case of Telegram, I have the same settings in both Windows and Linux. -
@Dancer18 I don’t have telegram, can you post a screenshot of the notification in the tab-header please.
-
@luetage OK, I'll do so, but have to wait for new notifications.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Oh, toggling it toggles the other setting, it’s just a duplicate apparently. You can set it from both places.
-
@luetage Dada!!! Here we have "3 notifications" in Tab:
In the same time there are NO notifications in the web-panel of Telegram.
-
@Dancer18 The page title itself is shown on hover, both for pinned tabs and webpanels. You should theoretically see the “3 notifications” line when hovering.

@luetage @Zalex108
In Vivaldi 3.7 (that I'm using now because of better bookmarking) the Telegram-tab is toggling between display of "Telegram" and of "1 notification".
In web-panel I can see "1 notification" when hover.In snapshot 3.8 after first start nothing was to be seen. After restart there is still nothing in tab (even when hovering), but in web-panel there is the same red dot now as I found in Windows. (To be clear: I'm mainly working with Linux)
I'd like to have the display of notifications visible in panels too. Not only when hovering, but directly visible by number or at least a dot.

I don't remember about TG on 3.7, where I remember to see a dot is for WhatsApp.

To see the dot on any site activity it's better for me as well.

@Zalex108 Yeah, but does the dot go away in the webpanel once you read the new messages? I’m also unsure whether page title notifications have anything to do with the additional styling in the favicon.

When on WhatsApp, the dot disappeared.
At least on 3.7, Don't know on 3.8 since updated yesterday and whatsapp is not often used. -
@Zalex108 I don't use WhatsApp often too. Incidentally it occured today that it showed notification in web-panel. But a real number, not a dot.
