Nothing was synced

I have an old machine that's dying. I had set up my Vivaldi Speeddial just right and also had plenty of research tabs open.
I got the new machine built. I went to sync but maybe it was the wrong thing to do? The new machine said that download and upload was a success....but nothing has changed. I don't have the stuff from my old machine onto the new one.
Did sync put this clean desktop up on the Vivaldi save area? Or is there something else I need to do to bring that data down.
Thanks for your help!

@lisating
Hi, there was/is a bug in Vivaldi:
Login username is case senitive, you can log in with "Lisating" and get success but sync does not really work, you need to type "lisating". Please check.Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin Hello, Thank you for your reply. I tried logging in with Lisating. I don't think I used that, everything was in lower case. I use a password app to keep my stuff, and I have it lowercase there as well. I see that I'm now logged into the server as Lisating, but the same thing - nothing happens when I decrypt and sync. I will now log back into lisating with lower case.
Is there anything else I can do? I can try once again from my old computer, if I can bring it up properly ...good luck to me ... and resync it? Would that be the proper process? I want it to upload my old settings and then redownload to this desktop (but syncing makes me wonder what it will actually do).
I so need to get the old settings. What can I try?

Hi,
Leaving apart the Sync problem, try to backup all the data from the old computer.
Follow the Tip to do it - both links -.
Will also poke @jane-n to ask for help.

@Zalex108 OK I can try this as well. I did try every option I might have used, LisaTing, lisating and Lisating ...nothing worked and no sync happened. I see that Vivaldi merges when syncs (I was not sure about that) so I'm not worried about that anymore. The earliest I can try putting the old computer back together is tomorrow so it will be at least that long before I can post back any results, but I will (if I can get it back up) do a backup of the data. It's a pain, but it took me ages to get the speeddial just right and I couldn't begin to recreate my tab groups that I need for business and personal. So getting that data would ease my mind. Thank you for your advice.

Some settings are encrypted so avoid moving the disk to an external case.
Read the Extra Steps Guide and do whatever needed to get a faster recovery.
For the Opened Tabs, copy the Session folder, otherwise you depends on the Sync 'til gets working and update.

Ok I was planning on using my external hard drive - I've moved that to the new machine anyway. I'll read the tips now. Thanks.

@lisating
Hi, you can check sync at vivaldi://Sync-Internals
Right side is green for me except Autofill, you can restart sync with Trigger GetUpdates.
Worst case is something broke sync on your old system but this is rare.
If you can still read the old HDD you can copy some of the settings, bookmarks to the new system but if you are on Windows passwords are lost.
I know many user use sync as kind of backup but it is not, I fear.Cheers, mib

Okay hello again. After trying it multiple times it finally worked. I knew it was going to work this time, because last time when I was having issues, on my new machine, I put a profile icon (there wasn't one before). So when I got back up on my old machine just now, I saw the profile icon appear. I tried to sync it once more and I saw the white cloud come up on the right. So I went to my new machine and did it and all my tabs and Speeddial is back. Phew. I was getting a bit worried there! Thank you everyone for your help and responses.
