Stabilizing for 3.8 – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2259.3

@jumpsq What it boils down to is that I cannot reproduce the alleged bug. 1 or 2 never switch tabs unless focus is not in a text entry field. If you report a bug without a clear recipe it will likely get closed as cannot reproduce.
-
@jumpsq I don't understand how you're apparently saying that you never saw any limitations ("I did not have any issues") with single-key shortcuts before, since there's an inherent limitation, and that's what Pesala described. It's the bane of anyone who uses these keys.
The browser can't read your mind about when you press, for example, "1" or "2" whether you intend to type those characters or switch tabs. It's always going to depend on where you are when you strike the keys.
That's not to say that something hasn't changed about the general subject, but it can't be that.

Of course shortcuts have to be focus/context-dependent, and I've never said otherwise. Did you even read what I was writing?
If I type e.g. 1+Enter it searches for "1", but it also switches tabs (at least if I typed sufficiently fast).
That's writing once, two actions being executed, although it obviously should only be one and has only ever been one in the past.
Just go ahead and do it yourself and tell me that it's behaving the same as it used to.
- Have a nickname ending with any active single key shortcut character
- Open Quick Commands and type the nickname ("Open Bookmarks on Nickname match" active)
- Does it execute the single key shortcut or not?
Reported as VB-78971.
Down below you can see that it also perfectly interacts with another issue that when loading a new URL and changing tabs right away, the URL may be opened in the tab focussed next (e.g. VB-68301). I only pressed
Ctrl+l
,1
, andEnter
. No additional keystrokes. -
@jumpsq Working just fine here, as long as I enable Bookmarks in Quick Commands.
-
Thanks, that's the feedback I was asking for initially.
Did you have the "Open Bookmarks on Nickname match" active? -

If that is enabled, then the bookmark is opened immediately on typing the nickname, but the command to go to the previous tab "1" does nothing. Focus remains on the newly opened tab.

@Pesala Thanks. I can reliably reproduce this bug, but I guess I will also have to try if with a new profile then.

Hey guys! I see kind of strange downloading behavior.
When I download a file it's fine, but when I download a folder from storage services, like google fonts, or yandex.disk folder, or even owncloud folder (they usually come as zip files), it just don't stop downloading. After the file reaches it's size, the speed starts to slow down, but the download process never stops.p.s. same downloads work just fine in chrome.
-
The issue has been known AFAIK. It's quite old. Try disabling
Open Downloads Panel AutomaticallyThe issue happens if you try downloading a file above a certain size and do not keep your downloads panel closed, that's all I know.
[EDIT] Yep, I reported it back in September (VB-72020 but mine was apparently a duplicate so IDK). Can confirm it still happens on a clean install.
I had the issue just yesterday, while doing tests for another bug...The symptoms are as follows: Downloading doesn't stop once it reaches 100%. Sometimes, the file is already downloaded (or there is a .crdownload that has the correct file size in my downloads folder), but in the browser it appears to be still downloading. It doesn't seem to ever stop.
Even worse, RAM consumption goes higher and higher. The browser eventually freezes and I have to force close it. -
@Pesala I just found this after filing bug VB-78992 where the pin entry fields on disney+ are filled by entering numbers AND at the same time the single key shortcut is triggered.
There is also references of shortcuts triggered in edit fields, in particular in the Confluence Wiki editor but also elsewhere. Hard to reproduce these things when they happen occasionally or only when specific conditions are met. With a little luck the disney+ case is descriptive, at least here it happened every single time that I entered a number that the same thing would happen with single key shortcuts enabled.
