@guigirl Perhaps, after the
Great Silenceservers update, the forum will unveil new features? -
@guigirl How do you explain that you have two zoom controls at the same time on your screenshot?

I didn't know that, thanks for the translation!

Yep, maybe they are gone or maybe not. Who knows, very confusing
I want NOTHING retained, unless i explicitly whitelist it.

Time to update! Thanks for the reminder!
Top Sites are now Shortcuts.

I just happy to see again all the pinned sites favicons -
I've scrolled through much of this giggling with amusement. Not sure I can really add to the discussion, but thought I'd just chime in and say I'm not sure whether I cheat on Firefox with Vivaldi or cheat on Vivaldi with Firefox!
For a while now, I've had Firefox-ESR or Icecat as my daily-driver, with Vivaldi for broken web sites (or just because it's a real pleasure to use).
Firefox gives (or gave) you loads of privacy-enhancing options if you only know how to find them - about:config is (or was) a treasure-trove of lovely options that I'm not aware of being available in Vivaldi out of the box - for instance, not allowing referers where the ETLD doesn't match (xoriginpolicy/xorigintrimmingpolicy), first party isolation, privacy.resistfingerprinting, ability to ad rel=noopener to all links that open in target=_blank windows, and so on...
That said, Vivaldi is much faster, has more features out of the box, and is far more customisable. And now I have noticed that it appears to be better for privacy out of the box. Firefox seems to be getting more and more telemetry, "studies" and so on every update. Additionally, they seem to arbirtrarily change and break those about:config options required for privacy and/or security. They change what the option is called, or remove it. In Firefox for Android, they have even got rid of the entire "about:config" completely, with the nonsensical excuse that "if a user changes the wrong settings, they could break lots of web sites". Well, duh! I think if anyone is using about:config, they already know that! And under that logic, they should theoretically just disable changing any browser options whatsoever! With Mozilla's gradual increase in hostility towards users and their privacy, Vivaldi is gradually taking-over as my main browser. I can replicate all of the privacy features I switched on in Firefox, using extensions such as "Trace" - or indeed by Vivaldi's own built-in features. There also doesn't seem to be as much telemetry or Goggle-contacting to switch-off in Vivaldi whenever I check. How ironic, considering Vivaldi is the one built on Goggle's rendering engine!
I might end up cheating on Vivaldi with Pale Moon, when i want a bit of nostalgia - but I think Vivaldi is soon going to be my main browser.
I love how transparent and engaging the development team are. It's so refreshing. I didn't think it was possible for a piece of nonfree software to be trustworthy or ethical, but I think Vivaldi pretty-much hits the target.

Yes! You are in the right thread!

Faster UI or site rendering?
Vivaldi UI should be a little bit slower I guess (I think it's a known fact)@jamesbeardmore said in I cheat on Vivaldi with Firefox :

Yeah, first they put useful options from the setting to the about:config and after some time they remove these options from about:config. Nice strategy!
And they made about:config page as HTML (I think) few years ago. It looks bad and confusing now

Yes!
I have some feature request/bugs to report to Mozilla, but I don't really want to use their outdated services.@jamesbeardmore said in I cheat on Vivaldi with Firefox :

This is the main advantage of Firefox.
Another advantage - Firefox is the last non-chromium browser in the world! We should save it!@jamesbeardmore said in I cheat on Vivaldi with Firefox :

@guigirl Have you or have you not disabled start up with last session in V? What about in FF? It doesnβt make sense to startup with last session and expect the cookies to be gone, because it is trivial for sites to add a unique ID as tracking parameters and re-add the cookies.
-
@guigirl Yeah, but say I put ?_ga=12345432 in the browser header, than I can just re-add the google ads cookie that was deleted, that's why it doesn't make sense. If you have different logic, feel free to share it. I personally feel that Chromium was right to do this, deleting cookies that can be easily re-added by websites simply does not make sense to me, but I could be wrong.
-
@guigirl Ok, I see your point, but it doesnβt annoy me too much.

@Stardust Firefox will read webpages out-loud to you, that's something Vivaldi doesn't have yet. So, I've got to give Firefox credit for that. But otherwise, Firefox's not too impressive. It doesn't even have a status bar anymore!

I don't remember status bar in Firefox. Maybe it was many years ago.

In this thread called I cheat on Vivaldi with Firefox we only Firefox and Vivaldi and don't care about other browsers... -

Haha... Is Safari Chromium? Perhaps you mean the last WebKit related browser?
