I hope this post can help if you suddenly lost your passwords.

Next lines cause loss of Vivaldi profile if not having used Vivaldi Sync before

sudo apt-get remove --purge vivaldi-browser
rm -rf .config/vivaldi

Then reinstall and resync will fix the problem.

There must be som kind of error in the deb package, since it does not --purge

Not sure what the root cause of this can be. Seems to affect Chrome aswell.

That's not a solution, this is a big WARNING as it deletes your profile (=everything related to it) and if you don't use sync to claim some settings only (& your passwords) back you are screwed.

Vivaldi password sync / save problem.

A better solution than to delete the whole profile:

In ~/.config/vivaldi/Default

Delete or move the files 'Login Data' and 'Login Data-journal'

Now you can log in and sync your Passwords again..
