It's about time – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2202.3
-
I found two issues (I think they were already mentioned):
- context menu is not attached to the cursor
- you can't close tabs
-
Can't close tabs. This is a huge bug. It happens when clicking on a page that opens a link or pop-up especially. I'd rather go back to Vivaldi freezing than not being able to close tabs.
-
@Vividal It has been reported several times.
To work around it, you can close the window and reopen it. If you have only one window you may need to open a new window first, but you might as well use
vivaldi://restart
in that case. -
@wpcoe: It all depends whether the image is also a link. It is is a link then the link menu is shown with an Image submenu or, if it is just an image, only the image menu itself is shown.

Yes! Finally be able to open new tab in tab stack by keyboard shortcut is really relieving.
Thank you!
Years of muscle memory is hard to beat, so I was always opening new tab outside of stack only to close it and try again inside the stack by mouse click -
@Gwen-Dragon Unfortunately, I've also discovered some severe problems with PDF display in the snapshot: Vivaldi Snapshot won't display pdfs (page thumbnails are blank) within the Paperpile site (www.paperpile.com), which uses a Paperpile chrome extension.
It's amazing how much faster the M1 version of Vivaldi is. I didn't expect such a difference. But for now, I can't use Vivaldi snapshot for the aforementioned reason.
-
in this version, after a while of using the program, I can't close and open a tab and only return to normal after restarting vivaldi
-
@pgraaf: I have that exact problem on my work computer which has that resolution. My home computer works fine with 1920x1080. Also, TABS WONT CLOSE!
-
Tabs refuse to close here, too.
Also some previously existing translations of the context menu seem to be missing now. You an see them in english.
-
@jimmyz Full translations come at a much later stage, usually when Snapshot is promoted to Stable.

Lots of problems with this snapshot on MacOSX (10.13.6). Tabs refuse to close after a while. Half the items in the right-click context menu have disappeared, including "Copy link address".
-
Wow, so many cool features, but still can't move to Vivaldi because of the bug that makes the extension shortcuts not working "in Vivaldi" mode, so frustrating, because this bug is here for years already.

That's a known bug, restart vivaldi to fix it for now.
Half the items in the right-click context menu have disappeared, including "Copy link address".
Now the menus are editable, I see both "Copy Link Text" and "Copy Link Address", I tried and switched them in position and works for me.
Settings/Appereance/Menu Customization, select "LINK" as menu type in the dropdown, and check if you see
"Save link as"
"Copy Link Address"
"Copy Link Text"
and eventually hit the "Reset Default Menu", you'll be asked for a confirmation, push Yes. -
@gorg: The Link menu problem on Mac is in progress to be fixed. It is triggered by Macs auto selection of text when opening a context menu.

I am Japanese and can only speak Japanese, so I use Google Translate to create sentences.
I'm sorry if there are any mistakes in the translation.
It's already written a lot here, but I've also seen some glitches in this build.Bug 1 Tab bug
Tabs occasionally become unable to close. It will be cured if you restart the browser. This bug is 100% reproduced when a tab that opens temporarily when downloading a file and closes automatically appears.Bug 2 Right-click menu bug
Some of the displayed menus are in English without being translated into Japanese.
Also, the menu part will be in a state where a partially different menu is selected.
As an example, if you select the translation add-in, which is introduced as a Google add-in, it will be a bing search.Bug 3, YouTube may be slow.
Sounds and videos may freeze, and in the worst case, videos and sound devices may die.- However, this may be due to the GeForce or Sound Blaster that we are using.
These bugs are occurring in this build. It's okay to be slow, so please deal with it.

@fendar: Thanks for the feedback. Are you using vertical or horizontal tabs? The gap between the tab and tab previews should be gone on horizontal tabs but this can be fixed for vertical.
You're right about the middle-click issue. I will put this on the bug list.
Keeping the tab preview open is probably a good idea. -
@ian-coog: Thanks, the "Reset Default Menu" did the trick. I will stay with the previous snapshot though, as restarting Vivaldi every while because I can not close the tabs is not something I can live with.
-
@espen: Keep up the good work. By the way, it would have been nice if we had a richer context menu for the download panel list as well (e.g. "Open with").
-
@guepardomar: You have to add them manually, then it should work. go to vivaldi://extensions, then left side there is a menu-burger, there you can click the keyboard shortcuts, edit the one you want and add a shortcut, hopefully that helps
