Address bar typing after opening new tab
-
This behavior changed somewhat recently
When i open a new tab, i do that with CTRL+T and start typing the url or search term.
A while ago, it started to put "about:blank" in the addressbar so when i would hit CTRL+T and type "google" it would put "about:blankgoogle" into the address bar which is very annoying. If thats a behavior i can control or some addon interfering I would appreciate some pointers how i can get the old behavior back, otherwise i would hope it gets acknowledged as a bug and fixed
thanks

hm, unfortunately, similar to the thread you linked, this only works sometimes.
I guess i'll have to wait for a proper fix

@TbGbe It is not just "about:blank"! The problem is that the content of the address bar is not selected like it used to be.
They break this every few months, it eventually gets fixed, and then they break it again!
@LorenAmelang said in Not focused on address bar in new window:
As I've whined in several similar threads lately... When you say "focused", do you mean the cursor is in the address bar, or the content of the address bar is selected ready to type a new search? Seems important to be specific about this!

With a custom New Tab and Homepage, I get cursor in the address bar, at the end of unselected text, for all of those options, external shortcut, Ctrl+T, Ctrl+N... And there is an obtrusive delay between Ctrl+T and the point where Ctrl+A actually selects the address content.
Very annoying! But mine has been this way for months, not just 3.4->3.5. Maybe a separate problem?
