Arching Vivaldifarians don't lie, except for the browser they are using
what was your distro again
???

@giranggi ok, I have news for you, someone from the commitee -they are still in a meeting- sent a message to me about showing you a link, and said that you should pay attention to the very first post...
It's this
@potmeklecbohdan said in six × nine = ?:
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Don't want to sound like the bearer of bad news, but knowing them a little, I think they 're welcoming you in that other thread... whatever this means for this thread

@npro Oh very nice; onya! Has it been reliable for you? [here, i specifically only allude to the beta Plasma, not KaOS nor VB]. Even more specifically i mean Wayland, coz so far for me X11 has been ok in my 5.24 VM, it was only W that went bananas.
In my early days of Arch on my tower [& i mean Arch, ie, post-Manjaro phase] i also created an Arch VM, setup with identical parameters as my real one, & with identical packages installed. My plan was that each time i was about to run updates on my tower, i'd first do them in the VM to satisfy myself that i was not about to brick my real system [can you tell; me be
!=optimistic by nature
?]. It was also a good way to first test new-to-me software i might later install in my real system.
I bored you with that pointless history coz i'm curious -- are you using that VM to solidify your pending decision to convert your real box from MJ to KaOS, & also for package testing? Yep i know your forum signature already says KaOS, but i still struggle to know when you're teasing & when you're serious about this change.
I'd like to see your Konsole listing of your installed packages, if you'd be so kind. I'm curious to see the decisions you've taken on Qt replacements for common / popular GTK packages.

@npro Ooooh, playing with fire, here ...

Well of course it was reliable since it had not the GTK-Brutuses creating trouble in the background, duh!
That's what I wanted to show (and also teasing about VB's superiority).
I opened some windows of programs installed, opened/closed their dialogs, moved them around/to edges, initialized an overview, added/removed some widgets, you know the typical stuff to... "occupy" the window manager, and everything worked normal (i.e nothing crashed
) in Wayland, though I think W performs slower in VB than X11 so I've returned to X11 for the time being. But it could be also because I had updated the host's GPU drivers before that and I didn't restart, I will test it again.
It's true I live in KaOS
for the last 2 days, I'm actually impressed by its speed inside VB, it must be the fastest of all distros I've tried in VMs, I would even dare comparing it to my old Arch
Software-wise I still have a loooong way to test all the stuff (including whatkcp
(like yay) has to offer and PKGBUILDS), so that list won't be available anytime soon, currently I'm trying to navigate through the dozens of scripts for Greasemonkey for Falkon. But I think I like this concept very much already, I feel like an Elementarian but the hardcore/on crack version of it
.
-
@npro Ta. It'll be fascinating to following your ongoing developments & updates here [no pressure].
-
@guigirl yeah it has been pretty fun so far, even your idea of just maintaining it as a testing distro for KDE withouth the bloat is pretty solid.
-
Whoa -- this is big news... big. It's such a historical change for Arch, afaik.
-
@guigirl oh this will create a controversy for sure!
Get cover!
(Is Arch being steadily transformed into Buntu?)
-
@npro See, i just knew that no good would come from Norbert "leaving" Debian & joining Arch! Classic Trojan Horse, if ever!

That's what I wanted to show (and also teasing about VB's superiority ).Now look here, you naughty provocateur. Do i need to go "humphhhhhhhhhhhh!" at you?
Your experience & reply intrigued me, so i have eliminated some variables as a test. Back when i was 100% VB & ergo 0% KVM, my Arch VM, earlier-mentioned, worked fine in both X11 & Wayland sessions. Now, that physically identical VM, merely converted to the new protocol needed by KVM, still runs fine in Virt-Manager as X11 and Wayland.
Sooooooooo, whilst not yet proof, this implies the possibility that the reason for my recent Wayland "excitement" is not Virt-Manager's fault, & not Wayland's fault, but maybe --surprise!-- Neon's fault. Aaaaaaaaaaaand, we know what Neon's base is...
-
@guigirl Griffin gone, Piotrowski gone, what's next for Arch? Arch featuring the Snap Store.
- R.I.P. Arch 2002-2022.
-
@npro Installing buntu now. Oiling myself up, ready to lay prostrate at the feet of my new overlords.

And what toolkit are all those based on?
Here, your new forum https://forum.kaosx.us
-
Ah, hmmmm, now i feel a bit silly. Decided to fire up that Neon Unstable VM again. Did another large swag of updates [this session was X11], rebooted, logged into Wayland, waited for the bananas again.
Nope. Today it's all peaches & cream, no bananas in sight.
Must have been moonspots, t'other day.
Oh well, at least this VM has 50% compliance with this thread. That's a whole lot better than some peeps here... -

I presume this scheduler optimises operations so that future entire desktop removals only happen when it's convenient, but once underway, the process is highly efficient ... ?

TRG got tired of GoodcommunityOS (no wonder
) and swears on Arch Linux GUI now
Too bad I don't see Pantheon there, it's going to take a while until a certain Macster here can be lured into it

@npro Hahahaaa, this guy, funny. AZ will enlarge P**** and Br****ts, more money, and so on.
