@jumpsq I fear we've gone off the tracks here, by miscommunication / misunderstanding. To try to clarify, my question was innocent; i simply wanted to understand what i had said [or maybe, have been saying widely in the forum for ages?] that made me come across to you as deserving these passive-aggressive implicit rebukes?
anyone but you is using arch if people don't say so in every other post
your worship
To put it another way, if i am offending people, i like to at least know it was happening when i meant it, rather than just by accident.

Haha. No, I was referencing some rant of yours a few days ago when someone used Windows.
And you really challenged it, did you not?
I admit some surprise/disappointment for the thread not attracting a wider array of Actual Arching Vivaldifarians.
But what I'm really sad about is that all my nice references to a certain
rock bandgroup of artists has been ignored even though I've just tried to follow up with your conversation. Sorry if I've not met a good standard of conversation, that was not intended. !And now for something completely different:
Snarky adds a 'jk' (just kidding!) keyword argument to any function.
PS: Yes, I'm actually sorry if I've killed your mood somehow. Was not my intention, but I hope that we're good now
-
@jumpsq I'm still feeling a bit off-balance, but can only apologise if i've inadvertently let you down.
Here's a transcript of my apology, fwiw.
Spoiler
From Monty Python Live at Drury Lane, "Cocktail Bar" sketch.
Spoiler
We'd like to apologize for that last sketch. We're sorry. We really are sorry. We're honestly so fuckin' sorry

OMZ, there's some life left yet in the rotting old corpse!
Woohoo, at last! Time to fire up my soon to be installed in a VM KaOS and enjoy it to the fullest
-
@npro Curb your enthusiasm [sarcastic though it was, heehee]. I just upgraded my on-metal version then played with it. Its two largest chronic failings remain [not saying it doesn't also have many minor hassles too, but these two biggies keep it irrelevant for me]:
- Still no way to install uBO [& its baked-in Adblock extension is a comparative joke]
- Still cannot handle https://iview.abc.net.au/video/NS1413V001S00 [albeit, it's 100% ok here https://hpr.dogphilosophy.net/test/index.php, https://tekeye.uk/html/html5-video-test-page, https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/media/html5-proprietary-media-on-linux/, https://demo.castlabs.com/#/player/demo].
Sadly, F tis still dead to me.
-
@guigirl Wait, still downloading KaOS...
Also that f* Chromium Save as... ->" Blocked- do you want to keep thing" truly sucks
...
I swear next time, it's gonna be strictly wget and curl !!!!
-
@npro said in Arching Vivaldifarians.:
in a VM
This is, of course, KVM/QEMU/Libvirt, using Virt-Manager, innit?
Otherwise... dead to me.
Disclaimer, for those who might need it...
As usual, this post might contain traces of sarcasm & irony.
-
@guigirl No, vanilla VBox
, the best
(don't want extra bloat in my system
)
-
@npro Sigh, another now to be added to the Blocked List.
At this rate, soon there'll be only
nobody
. -
@guigirl That's OK, it could be worse, imagine being in the... Bloat List!
-
@guigirl ok, ok... I guess I'll have to install virt-manager after all, now that I've decided to migrate everything to KaOS/Falkon combo. (Also because this install seems to take ages...)
P.S. Very cool that you can choose systemd-boot out of the box, and it's been a long time since I tried xfs.
-
@npro said in Arching Vivaldifarians.:

I feel pretty sure that this statement is about as credible as your new joke footer [preserved hereafter pictorially to guard against your inevitable later edits, teehee]...
...but seriously, if you ever do feel like trying it, lemme know & i'll share some good links with you to save your time, coz sadly a vast amount of the info Out There on this is badly obsolete & woefully incomplete, to the point of dysfunction. Once i eventually stumbled across my now-fav urls, the process went vastly better for me.
-
@guigirl Hah, you're laughing, but alea jacta est. The only thing I'm considering right now is if I'll do a typical dual-boot and migrate slowly, or a GPU passthrough with virt-manager (I lean to the latter right now, which can be really powerful). I'm not a newbie with virt-manager, but thanks for the kind offer. It's time to leave the GTK rot and Chromium's stupidity behind at last and shine in pure, full 64-bit KDE/QT GLORY!!!!
-
@npro I hope there shall be no Brutus lying in wait for you, to upset your exciting plans.
-
@guigirl We will take the GTK-Brutuses down... we just gotta take it slowly, cautiously, but decisively.
like... the way TRG does it for example... first strictly running it in Virtualbox
But... this is only going to be the curtain... we re going to slowly but methodically work on it in the background until it runs on crack. That will be the passthrough.
Then we will leave no prisoners...
-
@npro said in Arching Vivaldifarians.:
take it slowly
OK, then we'll have enough time to design & manufacture the Visitor Day Pass you'll soon be needing, to play in our clubhouse here.

Bloat List
They call it Bloat Chain for a reason. Also, did you accidentally miss vmware or do you only use open source software?? Hint hint.
Ah, come The Glorious Revolution.
They could not have dreamt it, but the party was down at â10.
I assume I'll have to go and reset my raspi to some extend, the latest updates have somehow messed it up. Although, once more, I feel late to the party looking at this.

It wouldn't happen if you ran ubuntu...

A couple of days ago i changed my VPN provider, & am still acclimatising to the replacement. My early tests of its WireGuard protocol went very badly, so clearly i need to better learn all the setup info. In the meanwhile i've reverted to good ol' garden variety ho hum OpenVPN protocol, so have been downloading a nice global geographical spread of their openvpn conf files then importing them into Plasma's NetworkManager. When i laid eyes on this one, in their extraordinarily long list, i knew instantly that i just had to have it.
Muhahahaha, all your souls [sic] are belong us.
