@npro tbh, i did not really understand your OP, & now that you've edited it out of existence
, my reply looks unintelligible...
Just another GG day...
-
@guigirl well I tried to snarkily comment again on how stupid this system is, for one having to wait for the next day to upvote previous' day posts and wrote I would stop posting today for that matter, but then I thought this topic has been exhausted already.
-
@npro OK. I was unable to decide if you meant that, OR, if you meant you'd done enough for today & were now off to bed or party... which considering the timezone difference, only confused me more.
My whole life [probably much longer] is just one continuous swirling mist of incomprehensibly.

Oh yeah baby -- finally!
One annoyance is the small size of the default start menu of Plasma. I really dislike the scroll bars that appear as soon as there are some additional categories. Why is it not possible to change the size?
It will be in Plasma 5.25!

Anyone here switch from Manjaro to Arch, and why?
Say what? Shirley
nobody
would ever do that?Nice geek-humour within:
Then I built my new state-of-the-art computer which I have dubbed, UY Scuti. It is a monster of a machine, 256GB RAM, 32-core Threadripper, RTX 3080 Ti, on a high-end gaming motherboard.
Did you create a swap partition?

@guigirl Nvidia or Nouveau drivers?
-
https://techcafe757.wixsite.com/titanlinux
why...
at least they could have used a solid greek font, approved by Titans, not a calligraphic one for a burger house of the 50's or for a casino in Vegas

VirtualBox On Linux Affected By Security Vulnerability Leaking Host Data To Guests
While VirtualBox is affected, KVM meanwhile is known not to be affected by this issue and the recommended choice for open-source Linux virtualization.
I mean these people who keep insisting with Vbox... I will never understand them...

Some Arch CUPS love.
I have a very old, albeit still entirely functional, Brother MFC machine. For many years now, i have not needed to do any doc printing [nor even scanning] at all. I last had this MFC working years ago when still using MJ, but when i converted to Arch in 2019 i chose not even to bother setting up this MFC. Back in the MJ days, getting it working iirc was a minor PITA, even with MJ's tools, coz i had to find its drivers manually from the Brother site & jump through hoops.
Today, i finally needed to print some docs after all, so i shuddered, grimaced, & prepared for battle. Ha -- it truly could not have been simpler [or at least, not much simpler]. Merely verifying CUPS was installed, then opting for socket activation, then closing/reopening Plasma Settings & selecting my then-visible unit, was all it took. A real doddle!
Kudos to Arch, Kernel & Plasma devs; the improvement over the intervening years for interacting with my obsolete MFC model, is astoundingly nice. -
Well thanks a LOT [who, moi, trolling? nah!] @npro! I saw your latest signature iteration
& am now having areally rotten day
, being very cranky with myself for being too dimwitted to think of that myself, & knowing that now i cannot do anything about it coz then i'd be just a silly copycat.Heartless beast!

ArchLinux icon, Vivaldi-snapshot icon and Firefox icon
, right?

@Stardust Yes, + one more. Despite my earlier post, i was/am still soooooooooo envious that i began preparing my change...
...but then i was even more unhappy to discover i cannot paste PNGs into my V account settings... & my attempts to searX how to convert PNGs to emojis didn't lead me anywhere productive.
Anyway, this is just between you & I, innit -- do not share this info with @npro coz then he'll be even more smug! Shhhhhhhhhhhh.

I have inspected @npro signature and can confirm, it's PNG!

just don't make it vertical
-
@guigirl hahaha, it's understandable you didn't think of that, as 99.99999% of the forum
peasantsahem users didn't as well, so I can sympathize with your emotions, -how it is to feel like a plain mortal- , however if you copy (steal) that you commit hybris, you probably will outrage the gods and get bad karma that would make the 10 plagues of Egypt look like a sneeze, so don't tell then you weren't warned!P.S.
Thanks! Of all the people here I knew you 'd appreciate it the most, so this gives me an extra satisfaction
-
@npro now I am thinking about adding that famous cheating-meme to our Firefox thread
-
@Stardust Much much better...

Oh no, seems then i'm even a bigger dimwit than i already knew. Bwaaaaaah.
