@guigirl finally an installer!
I went to install Arch! -
@guigirl said in Arching Vivaldians.:
Anyway soon i'm going to d/l the latest ISO & try out this installer in a new VM
You can do that!
-
@guigirl I am actually downloading the ISO
-
@guigirl what DE I should install?
-
@guigirl said in Arching Vivaldians.:
Probably your post was 100% ironic
yeah, I will probably try new gnome
-
Here is it in VM:
Does this mean I am also Arching Vivaldian a little bit?

Did the installation go ok for you?
My first two attempts to boot failed (error when finding boot media I think it was). Then I enabled EFI in the VirtualBox:
BTW I also tried Gnome Boxes, the system failed to boot.
What do you think about your system, so far?
I was expected 1080p resolution out of the box but nope.
I need to figure out how to set 1080p resolution. So many resolution options in the settings except 1080p, really?The default gnome is so confusing especially on the low resolution, so my first step was Dash to Panel Extension installation.
Maybe I will play with it later

However, important -- have you installed the VirtualBox Guest Additions?
Not yet, I need to read how properly install it first. Is there a simple method?
Ah, now we get to THE area which most of all makes GNOME a DE that i can only ever regard as a curio not a serious DE, for my use-case. G itself is so stripped-down & locked-down that i can't stand it without multiple extensions, BUT, every update of G breaks some/most/all extensions, sometimes for months, sometimes permanently... & sometimes the breakage even stops G booting, until you learn the crafty way to disable all extensions, with a non-booting system.
Yeah, default gnome is just not for me. I like to have a panel and I don't like a full-screen menu...

i forgot to mention another important thing
I will read it later thanks, but I was expected the archwiki link
-
@guigirl I don't like docks. I remember I was experimented with different docks on Windows many years ago. Not for me
BTW this site probably has pictures my uBO blocking.
-
@guigirl I unblocked wp[dot]com, now I see.

@guigirl said in Arching Vivaldians.:
\2. Ooooh, it's not in either Arch's Package repos nor AUR. Gasp! Debian beats Arch.
/usr/bin/taskset is owned by util-linux 2.36.2-1
(look at the manpagesโ URLs, btw.)
\41. uses debian manpage instead of https://man.archlinux.org/man/core/util-linux/taskset.1.en
-
@guigirl I know little about this, but isnโt the kernel (sort-of) switched automatically if the modules have to be reloaded? The release information may only be updated at bootโฆ? (just guessing)
