Click on Spam Button should delete, not move to trash
-
I want to delete spam imediately when clicking on spam button. At the moment I have to do 2 more steps:
- moving spam to trash
- empty trash
I'd like to have a new feature with direct delete it.
EDIT:// @mod
Don't know why it landed in category troubleshooting. It should be in feature requests. -
@Dancer18 The move to spam option is pointless. We should be able to just delete it, and Shift+Delete should delete things permanently without moving to trash. (Same for notes, bookmarks, etc.)
-
It depends on the email provider, but providers generally learn what spam is when a great number of people mark something as spam, move it to the spam folder. The folder and button in M3 isn’t necessarily useless, at least when you are using IMAP. For that reason alone it would be silly to remove the button/shortcuts for everyone. You can however still remove the button manually and there are keyboard shortcuts for both deleting (moving to trash) and also permanently deleting messages. From my perspective nothing has to be done. I don’t see the issue.

I have accidentally or prematurely added things to SPAM before, so I'm in favor of the thrash folder.

@HanlonsRazor said in Click on Spam Button should delete, not move to trash:
prematurely
Yes, I agree. As it is in other mail-clients there should be both options available:
move to trash-folder or delete at once. -
@Dancer18 The option to do that already exists in M3.

-
@Dancer18 Have you set the keyboard shortcut?
-
@luetage Yes, it seems to be standard, bc I didn't change anything there.
-
-
@Dancer18 Nothing went wrong. It is a feature request for future versions.

@Pesala I think we have a misunderstanding here. There is a keyboard shortcut setting for mail to permanently delete an entry (without moving to trash). This works right now. That clicking the spam button should permanently delete an entry is nonsense and would just confuse users. Vivaldi will never implement this.
-
@luetage Shift+Del on any incoming message - be it spam or not - doesn't work here.
Only Del moving it into trash. -
@Dancer18 Change the shortcut.
-
@luetage Doesn't work either.
EDIT// On Vivaldi snapshot 3.6.2165.32 it's working!
On newest stable 3.6.2165.36 it's not working.
On the version before 3.6.2165.34 it is working.
So it concerns only the newest version that came up today.

@Dancer18 I tested a bit further. I had key
D
set to permanently delete and it worked. Then I set it toShift‐D
and it stopped working. Setting it toAlt‐D
works again. This is on Snapshot with “One Key Shortcuts” enabled. -
@luetage Thank you! In the newest version of today (.36) it happened that the hotkey Shift + Del was working again. Somehow, after browser restart or so.
Good idea to check it with D or Alt+D next time!
