Apparently, the IRC client (like in O12) would be part of the mail client rather than the browser, sooo, while you're at it with the new mail client, please don't forget to reintroduce IRC. Who knows, how long O12 will continue to be operational - and I'd hate to have to drag O12 along just for IRC, once mail was moved to Vivaldi

I have long contemplated whether or not I should write this request, all the Irc channels I (still) visit are often full but always silent. So I second your request but priority wise, is Irc the first thing to spend resources on? I would use it, that much is clear. There is no extension that does the job.

+1. Also, I havenΒ΄t seen it on the request list

It's nostalgic, but a spend of resources in my opinion. Who wants a chat can join to Vivaldi group in Telegram to talk w/ other users and create new groups if want more privacy or specific threads.
It's a browser, let it be just a browser.
Don't burn Vivaldi like Netscape, trying to have everything: web browser, HTML editor, email client, etc, too heavy on running. Don't repeat the mistakes from past.
Just a surfboard for enjoy ridding...nothing else.

Opera Presto was in a class of its own because it had these extra features. It is frequently repeated fallacy that email, etc., bloat the browser and slow it down. It adds some kilobytes to the program code, but it has zero effect on a browser's primary function of rendering web pages. Your Internet connection is the main bottle-neck. The Mail client has zero effect if you don't use it. The same would be true of an IRC client if one were to be implemented.

Plenty of "just a browser" browsers out there. Users who have the vision that Vivaldi should be Firefox or Chrome should use Firefox or Chrome. It's 2021 and while Vivaldi is a fantastic piece of software, and we are slowly approaching the functionality of Opera 12. Well working tab stacks, fantastic mail client, notes, web panels, customizable menus, content blocker, web page, speed dial galore, site specific settings, tiling yada yada yada, all in a small package with a lightning fast browser.
Knowing how much was already DONE and working great back in 2012.... Vivaldi is doing a fantastic job after having to start from scratch. I wonder how frustrating this must be for some of the devs, rebuilding - kudos. Of course, they also add innovative new stuff, which is admirable.
Not just a browser.

Chat Client Like Opera Presto / Feature Requests / Desktop | Vivaldi Forum
This request was tagged PIPELINE on 7 September last year so it means that Vivaldi wants to develop it.
If you look in the folders of the Vivaldi executable you can already see two files.chat_notification_icon.png and vivaldi_chat_default.png

@pointed-stick Hi, Thanks for your feature request.
This looks like a duplicate of https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/24346/chat-client-like-opera-presto Please vote & discuss at that thread, thank you.
You can use the forum search first to see if you can find similar requests. If that doesn't work, I've catalogued all the requests here.
