Tab fixes and a minor Chromium bump – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2165.22
-
@timezra Upgrading is optional. Stable version updates happen whenever they are ready.
-
@Pesala Thanks, Pesala. I am particularly concerned with the first-time install case here, not the update case. Can you give a rough indication of when the next stable version may be ready for release? Days, a week, a few weeks?
-
@timezra The Snapshot is already in the stabilization stage, so no more features are being added — only bugs and regressions are being fixed. I suspect we should see it within a week or two at the most.
-
@Pesala Much appreciated for the quick reply!
-
@jumpsq Ah, I see that the setting is for calendar only. However, previously it also worked for mail / feeds / all notifications. Can anyone confirm this?
-
@jumpsq Works for me with feeds, I don’t know how it’s by mail. Have you ticked the respective settings?

New in Linux Mint 20.1: Broken Maximize button in window bar.
I've had maximize issues with the Cinnamon DE for a long time with Vivaldi. Particularly, on startup: VB-70960
-
@boruta I have no idea, but you can add your own if you need them.
-
@boruta I had no problem adding shortcuts. Perhaps those that you tried to use were already in use?
-
-
tab a within the tabbar is on automatic reload every 30 minutes. another tab b is set to automatic reload, too, but within a tab group.
when I close vivaldi and open it again, automatic reload for tab a is deleted but tab b is reloaded furthermoreis this a known bug?
Win10 Home -
@juanvase: Yes, but it's still little buggy.
-
OK, I haven't noticed it until now but after installing the previous snapshot on a new machine there are some options missing in the settings, mainly related to the keyboard shortcuts.
I can't find the options to set key combos for:- search for selection (I am using alt+Q on my other machine)
- close other tabs (I am using ctrl+end on my other machine)
- close tabs to the left/right (I am using ctrl+space on my other machine)
- screen capture - select area and copy it to clipboard (I am using ctrl+shift+p on my other machine)

@boruta That’s a known bug, see the discussion preceding this post, & also this one.

[questions]
- how do I know if I installed vivaldi as standalone, for me only, or for all users?
- I think I installed it for all users, but, in the command line (vivaldi://about/), I see the --standalone switch. Why the --standalone switch appears, in the command line?
- Could this (I guess), unwanted --standalone switch be the cause of the "disappearing options" issue, in the options window (see the issue explained, here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/436595) ? @potmeklecbohdan @guigirl

No. It’s a bug somewhere in the UI code, since they work very well after you change them.

[BUGS?] private mode messes things up, when dealing with accepted languages and spell checking
I found three weird things, in private mode.
bug 1. "RESET TO DEFAULT" button doesn't resets "Accepted language" to default, in private mode, try this:
a) start Vivaldi in private mode (--incognito, in the command line)
b) add some Accepted language
c) press "Reset to default" d) no default will be set: the button is just ignoredNotice, that everything works in normal mode (in a non private window).
bug 2. "right click menu -> Spell Check -> Language settings" crashes Vivaldi, in private mode
a) start Vivaldi in private mode (--incognito, in the command line)
b) type some text in a text field, on a web page (e.g: in the comments of these blog)
c) select: "right click menu -> Spell Check -> Language settings" d) Vivaldi will crashNotice, that everything works in normal mode (in a non private window).
bug 3. Vivaldi doesn't spell check in any of the languages it should, in private mode. Try this.
a) start Vivaldi in NORMAL mode (I mean, not in private mode)
b) add some languages to the spell checking engine
c) open a private window d) type some text in a text input field e) no matter the language you are typing, Vivaldi will not check spellingSpell checking works, in normal windows and doesn't in private mode.
Anyone confirms?

@ornorm: I actually cannot reproduce the issue - deleting downloaded items works fine here. Could I ask what your bug-reproduction steps are?
