Embedded youtube videos are not playing.
-
Hello All,
I've noticed that Vivaldi doesn't play embedded youtube videos for my current active "Person". The embedded player crashes and Im asked by youtube to take a look at this page.
Searching on the forums, I've followed the suggested steps here in a previous issue to see what I can do to get things running.
I've had varying levels of success and below are my results:
-
Update graphics drivers - Couldn't play embedded videos
-
Disabling all extensions - Couldn't play embedded videos
-
Cleared cache only by putting a check on the cache check item (from the delete browsing data feature) - Couldn't play videos
-
Launching an incognito window - Able to play embedded videos
-
Creating a new "person" for my browser and then accessing the page - Able to play embedded videos
My Setup:
- I am syncing my vivaldi profile across two devices (two laptops). The one I'm experiencing the issue being the secondary device, and the other my primary. The first one does not have any issues.
- I am on windows 10 64-bit.
- My current version of vivaldi is: 3.5.2115.87 (Stable channel) (64-bit).
- I have 5 extensions installed: Dark Reader, Pericles, Express VPN, Application Launcher for Google Drive, Honey.
I am able to play any youtube video from youtube's actual page. My other browser (Opera) can play videos with no hitches as well (embedded or not embedded).
Since the issue only happens for a specific profile on a specific machine but not across sync profiles I am not sure how to troubleshoot this.
Here is the article Im trying to access.
Below is the message I get from youtube after it crashes:
Message says: An error has occurred. Please try again. Playback ID: ~Any help would be appreciated, thank you kindly

I've tried clearing my cookies (from youtube only) and embedded videos are now playing.
Also I've tested it out on my other machine and I encountered the same issue. Clearing cookies also helped...super weird. -
Removing a cookie called LOGIN_INFO from my youtube cookies solved the issue. So logging in and out from my account helped. Kinda confusing still why this happens. Maybe an issue with youtube and not vivaldi.
