Handle eml messages
-
My mail provider sends me spam as attachment in eml format. When I try to open that in Vivaldi, I just see a blank screen. Would be nice if Vivaldi would handle eml. Or am I doing it wrong? I am testing with this sample file: http://file.fyicenter.com/b/sample.eml from here: http://file.fyicenter.com/97_EML-File_Extension_for_Email_Message_Files.html

Yes, I already did that. Even noting there that it is more pressing now that M3 is here.
-
This would be useful. Some email files are readable directly, but I needed to read one the other day only to find it was base64 encoded. Still readable, but it was a pain to process.
-
BTW, if the message is in English in plain text, one can right-click and select "show raw message" and the message can be somehow read. But if languages using non-asci letters are hardly legible.

So, apparently, Vivaldi uses EML format itself for storing mail: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/53948/docs-about-mail-storage/2?_=1613640433583
yet it cannot display e-mail sent as EML. Why is beyond me, this is so annoying! I keep going to gmail because of this to see some old mail because of this.

So I filled a few related bugs:
VB-77333: EML format is nto supported when received as mail attachmentVB-77332: Some EML messages saved by Vivaldi are not displayed when trying to open the EML file
VB-77330: Mail sent through GNU mailman is not shown
(I think they are all separate issues)

I am subscribed to a few message boards that send me daily digests with messages in .eml format. Other email clients like Clawsmail display these inline in the email. With your email client, I have to download them and open them separately. Otherwise, I'm loving having the email client built in. Been hoping for it since my Opera days. Thanks!

G'day all.
Hadn't worried about .EML files before today as I'd never received one.
Today I received a terribly important legal file in ... .EML format.
Bugger! As mentioned in this post, M3 won't open this file format, instead just showing a blank screen.
Almost 18 months after the first post above, it still won't.After some web research, I found a work-around of sorts.
~ Download and install fvp_setup_4.1.1.31fi.exe (File Viewer Plus) which will open the .EML file.~
~ Extract the info / attached file (PDF in my case) & save to where you want.
Worked for me.I guess opening .EML files in M3 beta is another of those 'BUGS' yet to be sorted out. Thanks for filing the bug reports, felagund.

@OziIan3880 M3's native format is .eml
However, it cannot parse .eml sent as an attachment. This is a known problem. It will also download an attached .eml as 0 byte file with no attributes.
The only solution for now is to open that with a different email client. The mail developers know of this problem, but have not solved it yet.

@OziIan3880 I should think so.

I came looking for a solution to this problem. I asked my supporter to forward the email to me.
However, I need not have done so. I can view the attachment inline if I use the Opera 12.18 email client.

The same thing happens to me, I have the habit of saving emails that I consider important and then when I try to open them with Vivaldi they are displayed in plain html and even Windows does not recognize it as one of the applications to open that type of file.

In Italy in the professional field, a lot of work is done with certified mail, and among the attachments there are ELMs. For work (courts, public administration, legal field) direct support for this annex is vital. Thanks

+1 A pretty standard and very common mail feature (especially work accounts)
