...would be nice to have it in the desktop version similar to Vivaldi for Android.
The tab count is also visible via "F2", but why not showing it in the address bar?

Try an extension, it would also be possible to write a mod for it. I guess most people don’t see the need, if you want it from Vivaldi write a feature request, but make sure it hasn’t been requested before. Taking a wild guess I’d imagine there is already one out for it. -
@luetage thank you for your reply, but I am trying to not use any additional extensions for security reasons. I'll file an new feature request

@MaxStout The tab count also shows in the Window Panel if you enable folder counts in Settings, Panel.
