Newly installed Vivaldi, some sites crash {Windows N}
-
I've just received a new computer and proceeded with installing Vivaldi on it. Using version "3.4.2066.106 (Stable channel) (64-bit)". But in this installation, some sites crash after a second, displaying the infamous "Dead Bird"-logo. The sites I have verified this behavior on right now are:
I have verified that the same version works on other computers. On this computer, I :
- have turned off all traffic- and AD-blocking (for the moment).
- don't use any Vivaldi profile on the computers where it is working, and the same behavior occurs for guest profile as well.
- allow Third-party cookies

Gone through Troubleshooting, edited first post accordingly. Still not working.

@Gwen-Dragon Ok, it seems related to my machine only then at least. I'll have to investigate this more then, but thanks for helping me out with this.

@tbergstedt Just so you know, in case you don't, not that you mentioned Yahoo sites, but those crash for many people in 3.4. No one seems to know why, so I expect it to be with us for a good while, like the inability to load USA Today was until recently.

@rseiler For it seems to have helped to install the media package for Windows 10 containing H.264 encoder among other things. I tried this after receiving a warning when starting Vivaldi with a new profile, with a link to the KB article and package.
As this is a new computer, there might have been a lot of media functionality missing, but possibly updating this is a more generic solution worth trying for others.

It seems to happen on google email google sheets where I have noticed it crashing with a bird at first I thought it was my provider but it is Vivaldi.

@tbergstedt I would suggest testing the current Dev build (Standalone install is fine).
It seems to have solved the Yahoo problem, and if that one is solved, it's a good sign for yours.
Of course, the "other" dead bird crashes, like Yahoo, may not be related to what you're experiencing.
