Autofill Names

I see the autofill/addresses settings, but Vivaldi also fills in first names and last names and some of the options I get on the drop down are making me crazy. Where can I go to edit, or delete these names?
Vivaldi 3.3.2022.47 on 20.04

@Gwen-Dragon If I turn off AddressFill, with the name autofill also be turned off, or is there a way to just turn off the first name, last name autofill?

@Gwen-Dragon said in Autofill Names:
Autofill addresses can be inspected and edited at internal page
chrome://settings/addresses
I spent forever looking for these settings, both in the GUI and in vivaldi://flags
Any plans to expose this in the GUI? I would have never guessed where to find this without coming here and searching around for it. And it seems like something people would want to have more closely at hand.
(Especially since I thought Vivaldi got rid of the "chrome://" references. I tried the same URL but with "vivaldi" in place of "chrome" and it took me to an unrelated GUI settings page)

I had a similar issue, which I resolved by changing the Save Browsing history setting in Privacy, to Session Only.
-
This is a current issue in Snapshot, it's not honoring the Privacy / Show Typed History setting.
Bug report submitted: VB-77486
-
A temporary workaround in Snapshot, is to go to Tools / Delete Browsing Data and ensure that Form Autofill Data is checked. That will temporarily clear the drop-down list seen when logging in.

@edwardp I verified this is a problem on Linux. Chatting with devs about it now. The problem is that form fields are remembering what's typed into them even with all options to enable this behavior turned off. It would seem Vivaldi needs a setting to actually make form fields forget what is typed into them, or to have that memory turned off unless you enable form autofill.

Thank you.
The setting to remember form fields for Session Only, should do that, if it was working, but now it's confirmed that it isn't.

I'm going to wait until I hear from Vvialdi that this bug has been fixed, before using Vivaldi. With that bug present, I'm just not comfortable using it right now.
Thank you @Ayespy for confirming the bug. Appreciate it.

@Ayespy I just received an e-mail from Vivaldi that they cannot reproduce the issue. I replied that the issue has been verified as a problem in Linux and placed a reference to this forum thread. If you are in communication with the developers - if the bug was closed as a result of their e-mail, it needs to be reopened.
Thank you.
-
@edwardp The bug was updated and confirmed now by a tester.
-
How do I prevent this FOREVER!!!
-
@h1a1m This is a bit heavy-handed, but i suspect might work, for those who really really really dislike Autofill.
- Close V.
- Find your
/home/USER/.config/vivaldi-snapshot/Default/Web Data
file [or its Stable equivalent]. - Delete it.
- Launch V [this will create a new empty
Web Data
file]. - Close V.
- Make said file Read Only.
-
I filed the bug report on this. I am waiting for notification from the bug team that it's been fixed. The bug has already been confirmed.
-
@edwardp I know you did, but... unfortunately much time can pass between filing a BR & solution of said bug. Hence, i offered the brutal method as a temporary workaround.
-
@guigirl I stopped using Vivaldi desktop because of this issue, but continue to use Vivaldi for Android. I also no longer use Debian.
As I still have not received any further e-mails from Vivaldi concerning my bug report, I have no idea whether it has been fixed. Could you confirm that the 'brute-force' method described, works?
Thank you.

Nope, i cannot. It was an educated guess, a logical deduction. You'd need to test it [i never did, given i like AF].

@guigirl My apologies for replying to this so late. I have since begun to use Debian again (although now using 'unstable'), installed Vivaldi Stable and this issue has since been fixed. the Autofill setting now works as expected.
