Smooth scrolling CSS mod for Focus Next/Previous element
-
Have been waiting for this feature for ages, and finally we can early access this thingy with a CSS hack!
html {scroll-behavior: smooth;}
Simple no? Yeah, that's just too simple I can't believe it... so, instructions:
-
First, u need to install CSS manager/editor extension, like Stylus to apply this CSS mod to webpages.
-
Then, create a new CSS mod with above code, change URL/domain option to Everything by click on "-" button. Click Save to apply.
-
Hit F3, TAB, or execute Spatial Navigation to enjoy a smooth sailing!
That all, enjoy smooth sailing... I mean 'browsing'. LOLEDIT: Just noticed this mod doesn't play nice with Viewhance extension, it will cause single display image to lag when scrolling with wheeldown/up.

@dude99 Is there a way to make this apply only for Find in Page, but not for anchors when a page first loads? It's a pain to wait for the page to scroll to the anchor if I opened the page as a background tab and then switch to that tab.
-
@valiowk Unfortunately no. This is actually a in progress feature, not officially release by Vivaldi yet. So, it's a all or nothing option for now.
-
Why not simply enabling
vivaldi://flags#smooth-scrolling
? -
@emvaized Are both the same thing? I don't know, it's been so many months since I posted the trick...
-
@dude99 Yes, enabling this flag results in the same smooth scrolling for the find pop-up

Not on Linux. When I enable the Smooth Scrolling flag on Linux, scrolling becomes very jittery.
-
@vistaus I guess it's still a pre-alpha feature, they might even abandon it if they can't get it to work properly across all platform... LOL
-
@vistaus Yes, I'm running Linux as well and also noticed weird scroll behavior. It seems to be a bug that this flag interferes with in-browser smooth scrolling
-
Hmm, as much as I wanted this to work for me, it unfortunately does not. I added the CSS to Stylus, it showed it is being active, and wasn't able to get it to work on any website. I am on MacOS. The Smooth Scrolling flag is unfortunately not available on MacOS.
Tried on:
M1: tried extension, didn't work, uninstalled; flag not available
Intel: flag not available
