Metager search engine problem
-
After stop using Google search and some other suspicious search engines like Startpage , Duckduckgo ...etc , I started using Metager search engine but after adding it to Vivaldi , the search/address bar is not working with my searches like after writing something i want to search for like "apple" for example and press enter , it is directing me to Metager website instead of start searching , How could this problem be fixed ?
-
I didn't mean that , i mean when iam writing what iam searching for , it directs me to their main site https://metager.de where i have to write what i was searching for again , and that`s my problem
`modedit changed wrong acute character into single quotation mark

@EpicMaker
hit CTRL+F12 (or open settings in your desired way), go for the search section and insert the searchstring, which Gwen-Dragon wrote above -
I am doing the same settings already but this problem is not solved yet unfortunately

I'm interested to read that you consider Duckduckgo as suspicious. What evidence of that is there?
-
....or Startpage? One of the best search engines (motor Google with own proxie) (Made in Holland - EU Norm)

I have added Metager to my search engine collection: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/46609/vivaldi-search-engines-collection

@Gwen-Dragon it works perfectly thanks so much

As for DuckduckgoSome suspicions have been raised about the legitimacy of DuckDuckGo’s privacy claims. These revolve around the fact that the company’s CEO used to run a now defunct social networking site called Names Database (legally Opobox).
The company was subsequently sold to Classmates.com along with all remaining user data, for a multi-million dollar sum. It appears that Weinberg’s involvement in Names Database represents contradictory values to those on which DuckDuckGo is based, hence the suspicions.
Gabriel addressed these concerns in a 2018 reddit thread where he defends the privacy practices of his former company and explained that running the previous company helped him develop privacy policies for DuckDuckGo.

@Catweazle And as for Startpage
Startpage is now owned by an advertising company called System1
Based on quotes from System1 leadership, it appears that the parent company (System1) is heavily involved in data collection and targeted advertising. Below are a few quotes, emphasis is mine.From CSQ (archived):
“Our philosophy,” [Michael] Blend explains, “is that someone may want a product or service but has not yet done a formal search … we call that latent intent, intent that has not yet been demonstrated … we identify that in consumers based on a large variety of proprietary data.”
“In our business,” Blend adds, “if we can gather as much data as possible, give it off to our engineers and data scientists, and then manage the two effectively, the business can quickly scale.”
The keywords from above are “gather as much data as possible” to identify consumer intent.

Yes and no, it is sponsored from this company, but the decisions of Startpage privacy remains in it's creators in Holland.
At first with the transfer I also had my doubts, but I could check that the privacy measures are among the strongest of the other search engines, even DDG. They don't store private data, not more than Vivaldi. Perhaps only some instance of SearX is better.
Apart from that Startpage also offers the best search results.
Metager depends much de Bing and don't soport POST, (search images with Metager and you will see). You can try also Groot, a nice and private search engine with usefull links, include in the SSuite online, it accept POSTUse
