Whole page blocking support – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2001.3
-
@luetage I think it only ticks over on days when there is a build. If there is a build every day, then it has been 2000 days as well!
-
Umm, the lock icon in private windows got... squished.
[Address Bar] New Private Window, vivaldi://private-intro/ overwrites whatever I started typing in before it (VB-69663)
I hope this change is implemented to guest windows (
vivaldi://guest-intro
) as well. -
[Address Bar][Settings] Provide a way to delete typed history (VB-69453)
I have not understood where this is, anyone?
Anyway it's still a PITA deleting history entries from the address dropdown with keyboard (shift-del) as the selection disappears and restarts from top each time.
It's only useable using mouse and the 'x' on the right of the highlighted entry. -
[Address Bar][Settings] Add setting for base domain highlighting (VB-70081)
this is better, I for example prefer disable it with my current theme.
-
Does the blocking change include
$popup
as well?I added my own blocking rules today like (not in Snapshot, stable release):
||velocitycdn.com^$document,popup ||tracking.prmtracking2.com^$document,popup
I was wondering why these did not work.
-
[Address Bar] Drag marked URL to desktop does not create shortcut (VB-54945)
works, not something I use personally, but many are used to do that, so it's finally here.

The same as for deleting history entries. There is an x button for deleting typed entries when you start typing in the address field.

oh well, wasn't it already there all this time? I could swear I deleted typed entries from the dropdown all these years without problem, or am I missing something?

@helsten2 I saw that message too. I think I closed Vivaldi a bit too soon. Restarting and trying again fixed it.
-
@pesala: Thanks. I used the Vivaldi Updater and got the error. Then I used the download link above - and it worked.
-
not sure why but:
- manually checking for update and updating failed. Had, to restart vivaldi, manually check and download again, then update.
- my address bar disappeared. I had to click twice on "show address bar" to make it appear again.
-
@Steffie i had this issue earlier when i used to tick the prevent webrtc option in extensions.....especially ublock ....just dont tick the option in extension.... then it will not not get re-enabled when u restart browser...
-
@steffie: I just rebooted my Arco tower after the thunderstorm just blew up (I prefer to unplug the cord when I feel that the storm could potentially be brutal), and Discover, the default software/update manager on the KDE/Plasma desktop, told me that there was a new version From herecura obviously (thanks for the work, herecura !)
-
@steffie: I don't run any extensions and the WebRTC setting remained unchecked after this update.
-
@helsten2: Same here. Got that error when trying to update from the pop-up, but downloading the file worked just fine.
-
@Steffie Some sites open ads by redirecting or in pop-ups that bypass the pop-up blocker, in this case the whole page must be blocked.
-
@RichardDick according to the ABP documentation,
document
only applies to exception rules for whitelists."Used to whitelist the page itself (e.g. @@||example.com^$document)"
(https://adblockplus.org/filter-cheatsheet#filter-options)"document - the page itself, but only works for exception rules. You can use this option to whitelist an entire iframe or website."
(https://help.eyeo.com/adblockplus/how-to-write-filters#type-options)Not sure what value it will have in practice.

When I open a new tab and directly start typing, I sadly get a "about:blankwww.vivaldi.net" instead of "www.vivaldi.net" now. (I have set new tabs to be blank.)
But good to see all these fixes -
Hi All,
Could it be that vivaldi is getting a bit too technical for an average user, I'm probably not as tech savvy as some people in here but I'm still liking this browser a lot. To me it's a refreshing change from other chromium based browsers. Incidentally, has anyone else noticed how much the so called browser war is heating up quite a bit.
