Solved Tab selection broken VB-70433
-
I wanna see whether someone can reproduce my issue before I report it. Should you decide to test this, please follow the directions.
- Open a new window.
- Create 3 additional tabs bringing the total to 4.
- Switch to the first tab and select this tab and all others with the ‘Select Next Tab’ keyboard shortcut.
- Switch to the first tab and move it to the last position with the ‘Move Active Tab Forward’ keyboard shortcut.
- Switch to the new first tab and select this tab and all others with the ‘Select Next Tab’ keyboard shortcut.
The last operation will not work, in the middle of the selection Vivaldi starts to deselect tabs, at least for me. Could well be this is dependent on additional settings.

@luetage thanks, we really appreciate it.
It might be worth it to share it on All Platforms as the following issue about dragging tab out of a tab stack was already reported on Windows. Are you able to reproduce it on Linux as well for example? -
@Gaëlle I reported on the Linux subforum, because I can only test it on Linux. It could be argued the UI is platform independent, but I didn’t want to assume it in this case. I honestly thought that was the reason the operating system specific boards have been created in the first place.
And I don’t see how dragging and dropping tabs to create stacks with the mouse is related to this issue here, but I’m gonna check it out later, thanks. -
@luetage ok thanks for sharing these insights. That makes total sense.

@luetage
I did a quick test, and to me it does seem that tab selection using the 'Select Next Tab' keyboard shortcut has some unexpected results. In fact, I don't even think you have to go through all the steps you outlined, in some circumstances.
If I go through the steps you outlined, using a new window and only Speed Dial tabs, then I get the same results you get - after moving the first (left) tab to the end (rightmost position) and use the 'Select Next Tab' keyboard shortcut, I do end up with some tabs being deselected.
However, when I just do Step 3 (before moving any tabs or selecting any tabs in the first place), using tabs that I already had opened to various websites, the 'Select Next Tab' keyboard shortcut deselects some tabs. I'm not sure if I had reordered these tabs previously.
I'm also on Linux. Mint 20, Cinnamon.

@ugly It’s likely you had reordered the tabs previously, because that’s what triggers it in my experience. Anyway, thanks for confirming.
