If i try to search something in the adress bar or the search field (upper right corner) with Google my browser switches automatically to Yahoo.

I've removed Yahoo and all other search engines in the Vivaldi options and it's still using Yahoo.

Does somebody else have the same problem? I haven't changed or installed anything. Problem occurs since yesterday.

      Edit:

Found out the root cause. It was a dark mode addon. If i deactivate it, it works again. no idea why.

I have the same problem and it is really annoying, but I was not able to solve it. Where can you shut down the dark mode add-on?

CTRL+SHIFT+E should open your extension page where you can disable/deinstall the extension

I have turn all the extensions off and then on and now it is working OK

The problem I had was that when I added any search, it redirected to this URL www.coolnewtabtheme.com/?a=gsp_nevada_00_00_ssg10&q=vivaldi that delivered the results via Yahoo Search.

I thought it was malware, but it seems to be something that was related to the extensions, although I can't really understand what it was.

@alemauro Many extensions are spyware, or they will override your search engines to make money.

I would urge you to exercise caution when installing extensions, and only use them if you absolutely need their functionality, not because they are "neat".

I've removed the dark theme I had but the problem has persisted. My specific one was for Ecosia, I also had one a few months ago that was a universal dark theme but it was buggy and I removed it. I don't know why a bug like that would wait 3 months to start causing me problems so I'm just lost. Anyone have any tips?

@CayJon You may have downloaded adware that is doing this. It's not something Vivaldi is capable of on its own.

Yes. If disabling the dark theme extension didn't fix this, disable all extensions. If that fixes it, then you know that the problem's probably an extension. From there: It's just a matter of finding out what extension's the problem.

Try control panel( or search "restore")/ create restore point / system restore ... to a previous restore point (I then had to reinstall chrome)

      Good luck
