Is there a way for users to install alternative interface skins?
-
Hi,
Is there any way for end users to install alternative interface skins in the Vivaldi implementation of RoundCube?
I can do this with the RoundCube installed on my own domain.
I have significant problems with both of the Vivaldi webmail default skins and would like to find something that is better suited to my needs and wishes.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Didn't read any option related.
There is this on its Settings:
If referring to colours, you may try Midnight Lizard extension or similar.

@syklist Thanks for reaching out. Would you please share which issues you're encountering with the current skins? Also which skin do you use on your own domain?
We used to have a set of skins but they stopped being updated and were not mobile friendly for that reason we stopped supporting them. -
Larry Vivaldi has my preferred layout, with just folder tree and message list but the folder pane is too dark and lacks contrast.I find it hard to read and recognise the icons for email actions ("Reply" "Reply all" etc). Grey on a slightly lighter pastel blue background does not have enough contrast for my older eyes. I also prefer black text on white background for the header "Mail" "Contacts" "Calendar" "Settings" etc. The message list is OK but if the whole theme had the same contrast I would find it overpowering.
Elastic has a preview pane I don't need or want and the contrast is just a little too high in the folder tree, message list and preview pane. Except for the bar containing "Reply" "Reply all" etc buttons which are grey on lighter grey and again lack contrast.
I prefer the bar containing "Mail" "Contacts" "Calendar" "Settings" to be across the top although this is not a deal breaker. Again, that bar is white text on a black background which I generally find harder to read.
It is a general problem with the internet that higher contrast options I find tend to have contrast that is too high to be comfortable. The other "modern" tendency to use pastel colours/grey tones with low contrast and very flat icons is just not going to help me use the internet as I get older.
I don't have any theme I can show you at the moment. It is a while since I logged onto RoundCube webmail on my own domain. I tend to use email clients (SeaMonkey if I can) but my ARM boards are limited to Thunderbird and Claws mail both of which have their own limitations. Which means on some of my devices I choose to use webmail in preference.
The two pane theme that was available before the upgrade of Vivaldi webmail suited me fine. Not too much contrast, the icons were coloured and contrast was about right. I was using the theme on mail.vivaldi.net until mail.vivaldi.net ceased to work.
I can understand that compatibility with mobile devices is important for most of the rest of the world, however I never use Vivaldi webmail on a mobile device.
I tried Midnight Lizard but after a short while my browser seemed to slow down noticeably (4 core RPi 3+ running Xubuntu). I was not sure why that would be but uninstalled it and the computer speeded up again.
