Add new/rename/remove Speed Dial tab/folder
-
Hi there,
I've just realised how great the speed dial tabs/folders in Vivaldi are.
To just swipe through them on my phone feels like a charm! However, there is no option to
- add a new,
- rename or
- remove a speed dial tab like in the desktop browser.
On my desktop I can move speed dials between the tabs by cutting and pasting them.
These options are also missing in the Android version. I hope they can be added to the existing long-press menu for the speed dials.Apart from matching the options on the desktop version. It would be nice to have the ability to rearrange them in their order.
Thanks.

Hi @ahrnsetido10,
Everything you're requesting is already possible.
Probably the easiest way to manage your speed dials is to go to the Bookmark Panel and rearrange them there.
To add a new bookmark either:
- Add a website as a bookmark from the Vivaldi menu and save it to one of your Speed Dial folders.
- Tap on the + button on the Speed Dial page and manually add a website as a speed dial bookmark.
- Add a new bookmark from the Bookmark Panel (+ button in the bottom right corner).
To edit bookmarks:
- Long press on the bookmark or bookmark folder in the Bookmark Panel and tap on Edit (pencil icon);
- Long press on the Speed Dial bookmark on the Start Page and select Edit Speed Dial from the context menu.
To remove a Speed Dial folder from the Start Page, edit that bookmark folder (long press > pencil icon) and untick the box for Speed Dial. You can add other bookmark folders as Speed Dial folders the same way.
To rearrange speed dials, long press on one and use drag and drop to change the location.
TL:DR Long press on bookmarks/speed dials and see what options are revealed to you.

Hi @jane-n,
Thanks for your answer.
I see,
So I can create a speed dial tab by creating a folder first (long press on +) and then moving it out of the current folder.Renaming and removing speed dial tabs have to be done in the bookmark panel.
And moving bookmarks between the speed dial tabs also has to be done in the bookmark panel.
But reordering speed dials within a single speed dial tab can be done by dragging them around.
Would it be possible in future to have all speed dial manipulating options available on the speed dial UI itself - without resorting to the bookmarks panel?
It would just seem so much more intuitive and I would really appreciate it.
Thank you very much.

That's right.

Not necessarily. From long press on speed dial > Edit Speed Dial the same bookmark/folder editor opens as from the Bookmark Panel. There you can rename the speed dial or folder and change the parent folder. You can also decide whether the folder is shown on the Speed Dial or not.
But reordering speed dials within a single speed dial tab can be done by dragging them around.
Yes, that's correct. If you drag one speed dial over another, you can automatically create a new folder with these speed dials.
Would it be possible in future to have all speed dial manipulating options available on the speed dial UI itself - without resorting to the bookmarks panel?
If you think about it and test a bit all the options more or less are already available on the Speed Dial, aren't they? But if there's anything specific missing, you're welcome to make a new feature request.
