Open in new tab link markers
-
Some link will open in new tab by default (via left click), but there are no marker to identify such link. I propose Vivaldi to mark all these links to notify user before click on 'em.
It can be done easily with Stylus extension (or any CSS editor) with this simple CSS mod:
with outline
a[target="_blank"]:hover {outline: dotted 1.5px !important;}
with pointer icon
a[target="_blank"]:hover {cursor: alias !important;}
Obviously there are multiple way web developer used to enforce link opener behavior, so I think only Vivaldi dev can perfect this feature.
Thanks for all the vote & support.

I use target="_blank"-toggler :

(https://github.com/augnustin/target_blank-toggler)
Besides it is possible to switch between opening new tab or not by pressing the Ctrl + Shift keys.

@barbudo2005 Yes. It's a nice solution via extension, but IMHO it should be a standard feature for all modern browser.
Unfortunately it seem to causing Popup Blocker (strict) extension to go nuts on some website... LOL
Anyway, thanks for your recommendation.

You can force a link to open in a new tab by middle-clicking it.

@Streptococcus One must use Shift+Click to force a link to open in a new tab. Middle-click opens it in a new background tab. Left-click on a users name here will open their profile in the current tab, but there is no way to identify the link target, which is what this request is about.

You identify the link target by mousing over it and looking at the status bar before clicking it in any way.

I put together a userjs here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/366990
It works just like @barbudo2005's suggested extension, but it use SHIFT key to toggle the behavior instead.

@Streptococcus That is not what I meant by the link target.
