What's the point? Time and weather are taken care of by most modern operating systems, note taking is inbuilt in Vivaldi, extra google search is superfluous. Plus points for taking Vivaldi into consideration though!
-
@Silverman25 Here, we do not like Google due to its bad behaviour regarding privacy and tracking.
- Can the extension use the user's chosen default start page search engine?
- When you add a note, what happens to the Quote that is currently displayed? Is that a note and do they rotate daily, randomly, etc?
- The folder icons do not look very nice. Can they use custom thumbnails like Vivaldi's start page folders?
-
Yes, we care about your privacy, so you can choose your favorite search engine
- Daily quote not related with notes. So, every day you will see new daily quote.
- Folders have only one thumbnail in current version. Propose your variants of thumbnail folder icons
-
@Silverman25 Vivaldi generates the thumbnails from four speed dials inside the folders. This makes it easy to identify the folder without opening it.
I created my own as I have only one Start Page folder.

What have tabs got to do with wallpaper? -
@Streptococcus That is where the setting is found.
Settings > Tabs > New Tab Page > Controlled by Extension

I have Start Page, but not New Tab Page in there. I am happy with the images supplied by Vivaldi.
-
@Streptococcus , I prefer to use my own wallpaper in accordance with my desktop theme. From time to time I also use animated gifs in Vivaldi as wallpaper, which is also no problem.
In the Chrome Store there are several extensions that change the home page, with clock, calendar, time and other widgets, but, although beautiful, they have given me some problems and also by their nature they can create a privacy hole (weather forecast, which requires the location, news with corresponding cookies of their origin, etc.), apart they can slow down the browser.
I congratulate the author for his good intentions to create an extension of this type, surely there will be some other interested user, but I will not be one of them. -
@Catweazle In the development process, I did my best to eliminate the points you listed
- The application does not receive permission for geolocation. Only when you want to take advantage of the weather will there be a request. And here you can reject it and enter the region manually.
- Live screensavers can be turned off and only static wallpapers will be shown.
- Spent a lot of time optimizing the application, made it lightweight and squeezed the maximum out of caching (launch takes ~ 80-120ms)
-
@pokemn It's a good looking start page. Vivaldi should certainly take some notes on how you detect and create the icons for the page. I assume you take the page "touch icon" or "apple-touch-icon" to make these? Looks good, much better than the screenshots Vivaldi creates by default
It's not perfectly integrated to Vivaldi yet though, for instance the Bookmarks/History/Downloads shortcuts lead to the Chromium internal pages, not the Vivaldi pages.
- Should be able to set custom backgrounds.
- Should be able to choose size of icons.
Any FYI - when I tried to go to your homepage

I got a warning from Avast web shield about phishing. Not sure if unfair or not? -
