On mobile Vivaldi, the "simplified view" option is shown as a infobar in the bottom of the page. When reading a lot of articles online and not always wanting to use that view, the bar gets distracting fast.

A better way to do this would be to add an icon to the address bar, like Vivaldi desktop and Firefox do.

//MODEDIT: removed broken image, merged duplicated requests, added the older one below as it had less votes

Currently the option for reader mode can be enabled in accessibility settings. When enabled the browser will show a pop up on supported pages. To me this feels intrusive. I don't want to be greeted by a popup whenever reader mode is available, on many sites I'm just fine with the standard view. Moreover we lose our standard panels when enabling for a specific site… This feels unintuitive and overly complicated.

I suggest to keep a switch for reader mode on/off in settings, but probably not hidden in accessibility. When enabled a reader mode button should be shown for supported pages in the bottom toolbar. Pressing it toggles reader view for the page, just like on desktop. This way we don't have to use the menu like on other browsers (fewer clicks), it's right there in the UI, but not as a nagging and quickly disappearing pop-up (no one likes pop ups) ^^

And please keep panels and navigation consistent – no need to change it around.

I'd like to see it added to the menu with the rest of the page options, ie refresh, share, etc

@theprawn Yeah, that's what the other browsers do. It's one more click, especially painful in the Vivaldi UI because the menu is on top : /

I'd be fine with a menu entry too, but it would be perfect as button that appears when the option is available.

@luetage that sounds good. Menu option/addition is permanent and allows me to change my mind after dismissing the popup

At least, automatically remove the popup at the bottom of the page after 1-2 seconds.
AND add an option "Simplified View" to the main menu.

Dear Vivaldi team, please do something about the "Simplified View" popup?
      It's actually quite intrusive.

      Was this not solved/considered?
I feel it's really counterintuitive to do it that way also in the docs

      It's mentioned that the

In case you saw the message, but didn’t enable it before the message disappeared, scroll back to the top of the page and the option to switch to Reader View will be displayed again

Which I can't find to be true! I can't find the prompt back if I dismiss it.

@mohamadeen That’s already an improvement though. It used to be the case the message was displayed at the bottom on all pages, where reader mode is available, and only if the accessibility settings had been turned on. Still, I’d prefer manual with a button of course, but it’s not as bad as it used to be.

I want it can reopen at same page.
Even adding a main menu switch option would be acceptable to me

      Hello Vivaldi team,
Read mode is not useful on Android.
I will not explain long. If it works like Samsung browser, Opera or Edge it will be very efficient especially for adhders 🙂

Hi, improve what? Make it better is not a useful request, in my opinion Vivaldi reader view is better than Edge.

      Edge:

Hi and yes the pop up is disturbing but this was the feature request already.
Please vote it up if you like it.
I hope it will be implemented at some time.

The quick access to Reading Mode and simple UI is why Firefox is my default Android browser. Vivaldi is my main on desktop, but most of what I do on a mobile browser is read articles linked out from Feedly/Reddit/Twitter/Signal. The no nonsense UI and quick reading button makes Firefox ideal.

Adding my voice to this request. As a recent Android tablet owner, the main thing I do on it is read. The current reader view implementation is bonkers counter-intuitive. Why would anyone opt for a pop up?! It's so obnoxious and makes it hard to toggle it on and off. Vivaldi is otherwise the best browser on Android by far, but this makes it kind of annoying to use. This is my #1 request, and would be a great quality of life improvement.
