Vivaldi does not recognize OS setting that it is not default browser
-
Using FF for Android as default browser on Kindle Fire OS.
If I tap a link in Silk, the built in browser or email the link is opened in FF (as it should).
If I tap a link in Vivaldi the link is opened in Vivaldi (shold not be happening).I am probably the only one with this issue... I am thankful Vivaldi can work on my Kindle so don't worry to much unless it happens on other devices.
I can still Copy the link and open FF to get there if it is one I don't trust. -
@greybeard Sounds like a bug - have you reported it?
For information on how to report a bug, see this URL: https://vvld.in/how-to-report-bugs
On the form, you can add your email address. Once submitted, you'll get a confirmation. You can reply to this with any logs or further info.
Once that is done, please share the bug number (beginning with VB-). Thanks.

@LonM Not as yet. As probably the only person on the planet with this combo of devices I'd feel bad making dev's work on something just for "moi". They have given me so much just with Vivaldi...
But I will report it. Perhaps just knowing may help them in other ways..
Cheers -
How is that a bug? If you are using Chrome and tap a link, it opens in Chrome - no matter what your default browser is. Same in Opera, same in Firefox, same in ... any browser. Why should Vivaldi be different?
If you want an option to long-press a link and the menu to say "Open in default browser" I'm sure they'd listen to such a request. But it makes no sense for a browser to open most links in another browser.

@sgunhouse That is not the way it has been working so far. All links have been opening in FF. (?)

Then Amazon is strange.
I have three browsers on this tablet (not counting Chrome as I don't use it). Opera, Vivaldi, and Firefox. Okay, maybe 4 - I have both Sopranos and Beta of Vivaldi. Opera is default (since I'm a moderator on their forums). If I click a link in Gmail it opens in Opera as it should. But if I'm in a browser, any links open in that browser, so I'm in Vivaldi as I write this. If it didn't work that way, when I clicked on the link for this thread it would have opened in Opera.

@sgunhouse Reported as VB-61811.
Today is different. Links tapped in Silk open as new tabs (or windows) in Silk browser. All other links open in FF.
Silk also has a new icon.... Perhaps a new version was pushed overnight. This is more for Vivaldi Devs to know what is going on and how Vivaldi is behaving. Perhaps it may be of use to them.
I suspect I am one of a very few users on a Kindle Tablet so I am really not expecting them to put a high priority on this issue. -
