Can't access facebook messages
-
This is pretty weird. When I open Facebook from Vivaldi on Android, and click on the Messages icon, instead of being taken to my messages inbox, I can briefly see an ad for the FB Messenger app, and after 1 second delay the Play Store opens to offer me FB Messenger to install. This seems to me like my phone is infected with a virus of some sort. Also, it only happens in Vivaldi. On Opera it doesn't occur.
Anyone else had the same issue? How do I fix it?

I have to say it, just in case: if you don't have Messenger installed on your device, then you need to install it before you can use it.

@JoelYoung I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that in order to access my messages on Facebook in Vivaldi for Android, I first need to have installed the Facebook Messenger app?
If yes, then I should say you're incorrect. I'm accessing my FB messages just fine through Opera, for example, even though I don't have the Messenger app installed. And even if it wasn't so, I don't see why would a browser condition its proper working by existence of another app?

@tomica Facebook requires that the Messenger app is installed on your device. Messenger is separate from Facebook, it's not integrated with your browser or Facebook itself. So, when you click the messages icon, Facebook is trying to open the Messenger app. If it's not there, it will prompt you to install it.
On desktops/laptops, this doesn't happen. Only on mobile. My phone and tablet are both Android, and that's how it works. I assume it's the same for Apple devices and/or others, but I can't say for sure since I don't own those.

Thanks for the answer. Now I'm actually more confused than before I asked.
- Why does Facebook "require" that Vivaldi doesn't work properly?
- Why does Facebook require that only from Vivaldi, and not other browsers (for example Opera, as I've mentioned)?
- Why does Vivaldi comply to such malware-like requirement from Facebook?
- How do I prevent this from my end?
