Can't Log In to Router
-
As administrator, I need to get into my router and can't. The IP's 192.168.0.1 and ... .1.1 - and http:// & https:// just get me a list of where the IP's are, what they do, and such. I need access. With another browser, I can just type the IP in and I'm there. Not with Vivaldi.
Whassup?

I have no trouble using V to get to my router (192.168.2.1). As a matter of fact I just had to go into it this morning. (Using latest snapshot.)
Anything else you can add?Vivaldi 2.9.1719.3 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@mscarrington
did you type192.168.0.1
orhttp://192.168.0.1
? try the second notationif this doesn't help, create a bookmark with the http-address and add a nickname (like router) and open the page with help of the nickname

With my Vivaldi, a NetGear modem/router, and Win10, I typically go into my router nearly weekly to check our often-faulty DSL connection. Entering http://192.168.254.254 (unique for THIS system) works immediately to get me directly to the modem log-in box; using a bookmark with that same URL also works immediately. If I intentionally mis-type the URL in the address bar, after a suitable delay I get an "unable to connect" response but not any kind of "list". I'm not sure what's happening with your Vivaldi installation/settings...

No problems here either with http://192.168.1.1/ and 192.168.1.1 in both OS connected to the network.

You said entering your IPs "just get me a list of where the IP's are, what they do, and such." I can't imagine what this list is... Can you post a screenshot?
What do you get for 216.58.195.78 (google.com)? Should redirect to https://www.google.com/ and the basic search page.
My network is not on 192., so I get:
192.168.0.1 took too long to respond.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUTMy 10.1.1.1 redirects to http://10.1.1.1/ and fails because I've changed the access port on my router for more security. Strangely it does not timeout like above! It just sits there waiting for several minutes now!
To be fair, Vivaldi recognized 10.1.1.1 and suggested the proper port to append, and I had to delete the port number for that test. Apparently that has triggered some "unexpected behavior"...
Wait... Letting it use the suggested port also fails!

The connection was reset.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_RESETWireshark shows it actively reporting
Standard query response 0xf9a1 No such name PTR 1.1.1.10.in-addr.arpa
for internal IPs, andStandard query response 0x9fe1 Server failure PTR 66.8.26.104.in-addr.arpa
for external IPs.Except it knows Google!
Standard query response 0x3a3f PTR 188.195.125.74.in-addr.arpa PTR wj-in-f188.1e100.net NS ns1.google.com
. And Azure... And LastPass...Guess it is time to reboot the router! Probably my own strange problem, nothing to do with the original question. But when this kind of weird thing happens, Wireshark is the key to understanding it.

Rebooted, works properly now. Both Vivaldi and Firefox (or maybe the router itself?) now remember my custom port and append it even if I intentionally delete it from the suggestion in the address bar.

@mscarrington Hello there,
We need your to know your OS & Vivaldi.
Do you get the login box after typing you router IP?Note: Topic moved from Windows Category

Here is a screenshot:
OS = Windows 10 pro, V= 2.9.1705.41

@mscarrington So what's happening is every time you type
http://192.168.0.1
into the address bar, it searches DuckDuckGo instead?What happens if you copy the address below and paste it into the address bar?
http://176.34.155.23/
That should (at least on my system) bring you to the DDG main page.
Are you running any extensions?
Have you tried going to the Manage Extensions page (Menu > Tools > Manage Extensions, or Ctrl+Shift+E) and disabling all, then trying again?Have you tried it in a Guest Profile (Settings > Address Bar > Manage Profiles > Browse as guest) to exclude any possible settings or extensions causing this?

@mscarrington
eventually a dumb question, but where are you inserting your adress? see my screenshot, are you typing at 1) or 2)
