please add a button in address bar for this.
like the button already exist called """ add to home screen""
please add some thing like """ add to speed dial"" -
Hey @look90, Speed Dials are just bookmarks that are displayed on your Start Page and you can already add new web pages as Speed Dials directly to the Start Page. To do that:
- Open the Vivaldi menu on the Address Bar;
- Tap on 'Bookmark Page';
- Tap on 'Edit' on the information bar that appears at the bottom of the screen (tells you to which folder the new bookmark was saved to);
- Change the bookmark's location to your Speed Dial folder.
- If you wish you can also edit the title and add a description and a nickname to the bookmark.
You can read more about Bookmarks and Speed Dials on our Help Pages.
I hope this helps.

@jane-n
thank you
.but edit option disappear after 1 sec.
and after that its difficult to edit bookmark. -
To edit a bookmark:
- Open the Bookmarks Panel;
- Locate the bookmark in your bookmark folders;
- Long press on the bookmark to select it;
- Tap on 'Edit' (the pencil icon).
Then you'll see the same Edit menu and can change the title, location, description and nickname.

Hi
i dont want to add a bookmark just so i can have it on my speed dial
I just want to add it to my speed dial.
Add a menu item add to speed dial (its in Opera browser)
Why would you want them both there one in bookmarks folder and one on your speed dial
If thats what you want to do might has well remove the speed dial feature and just have the bookmarks has the speed dial
Seems crazy to me -
@daveben Speed Dial is just a folder inside the bookmarks (that's fetched and presented by the start page). Essentially you bookmark the page to the Speed Dial, you shouldn't end up with a duplicate bookmark because by editing you're moving it there.
-
@rluik Thanks for that
I dont want to edit anything i just want to add to speed dial (like in opera browsers)
like i said its crazy to do it the way vivaldi want you to do it -
@daveben Your Speed Dial IS a bookmarks folder. It's not possible to have a Speed Dial that is not a bookmark in Vivaldi.

This post is deleted! -
@Ayespy If you want more people to use Vivaldi you have to make things simple and the way you want to do it is not simple.
Right mouse click on address bar "add to speed dial" it cant get any more simple than that. I for one will not move to Vivaldi for that one reason and i am not alone with this -
@daveben You can already do this. Click on the bookmark symbol in the address bar and when the folder dropdown appears, pick the Speed Dial folder.
And "I" don't actually have to do anything, as I don't work for Vivaldi, and have no say in their policy or architecture choices. That said, the treatment of "Speed Dial" as a bookmarks folder (and it can be any folder(s) you want it to be) permits a flexibility and range of user choice that no other browser has.
If adding a bookmark to speed dial using these two clicks instead of those two clicks means you are unable to adopt the browser, then we're sorry to see you go, but so be it. The Vivaldi team can only please a finite number of users, which is fewer than everyone.

Well, 4 clicks on Android, as there is no bookmark icon in the address bar. Clicking on Edit is required.
-
@sgunhouse Ahh, yes. I forgot we were in an Android topic. I don't add bookmarks on my phone, ever, so I'm not that familiar with the work involved.
-
@sgunhouse It strikes me that Vivaldi devs are likely to add a bookmark icon to the Android address bar - assuming it's possible.
-
Actually, I have one on my 10" tablet, but not on my 7". Obviously the difficulty is space.
My 10" Lenovo Yogabook that I use instead of a laptop has 2 icons inside the address field - Bookmark and Downloads (plus the button for Panels, back, forward, speed dial, the shield and lock/globe, tabs, and the V menu). My 7" tablet has everything except the Bookmark and Downloads icons. So on my 7" tablet - and presumably all phones - I have to tap Menu > Bookmark page, then tap Edit before it disappears, then the Folder list, and finally Speed dial (or whatever folder it is if I changed it). Oh, and close the Edit window. I guess that makes 6 clicks, then.
In that sense, shouldn't the Tabs icon be on the tab bar, for devices that show it? Not enough space gained by moving 1 icon of course.
-
@sgunhouse I yanked out my 10.5" Android tablet and found the same thing you did. The Icon is there, but it doesn't behave like the desktop one. I don't know how difficult the coding would be, but it would be a better user experience IMO if everyone could do a two-click bookmark add to their folder of choice, rather than have the browser pick the folder for you, and make you move it. That said, it's not a deal-breaker for me, especially since I never add bookmarks when working on Android.
-
I suppose I should fire up that Samsung tablet more often. It had to update the system, and 72 extensions, which took forever.
-
Bookmarking a page and edit that to add to speed dail is pretty inconvenient.
Long pressing bookmark icon to add speed dail is appreciated as there is 'no more room' in tool bar!
-
I am talking about Vivaldi in tablet, which has bookmark and download button inside address bar.
For mobile phones it's not available, u have to do it in menu. So should add 'Add to speed dail' along with 'Add to bookmark' which is already Available.By checking previous posts they said "speed dail is a folder in bookmarks which home page fetches to show as speed dail". In that case they should add an option to bookmark directly to speed dail folder

There really needs to be a quick add to Speed Dial button either on the bottom toolbar or from the drop down menu that extends from the V button up top.
On a side note, I think that the speed dials themselves could be much better looking. Opera has these really clean looking large icons for each individual website and they are BEAUTIFUL.
