On chrome if you open a new tab it shows a bunch of News stories that cater to your interest.
This is not the same as google news.It was called google now, but from what I see it is called discover now. It the same stories that show up if you swipe to the right.
Has anyone figured out how to get this to work on Vivaldi mobile browser. The link is chrome://newtab on the chrome browser. but that doesn't work in Vivaldi

I don't see why Vivaldi would want to have this. Vivaldi makes money with sponsored speed dials while Google has it's own promoted content (sites and news).

For the news I have simply put the links of the newspapers national and international that interest me. At least for the moment, it is what gives me the best service.

Yeah, just customize your Speed Dial to have the links you want accessible when you open a new tab. On Vivaldi, the URL is similar to Chrome, it's
vivaldi://newtab
, but it loads the Speed Dial instead of Chrome's promoted content. As already mentioned, Vivaldi has links in the Speed Dial (and other bookmarks) upon install, some of which are sponsored but not all - Vivaldi includes bookmarks they believe have value. The Speed Dial (SD) is nothing more than a bookmarks folder that has the Speed Dial flag enabled. You can have multiple SDs just by clicking the checkbox when editing or creating a bookmarks folder. When you have multiple SDs they will be displayed at the top of the page so you can easily click to switch between them. On Android, it shows the SDs from the Mobile Bookmarks section initially, but all SDs are available. On the desktop, the Mobile Bookmarks section is hidden, so only the regular SDs are available.
Additionally, Speed Dials can contain a folder tree just like any bookmarks folder. This enables a highly configurable new tab page. Using multiple SDs, each of which can contain as many folders and bookmarks as you wish, you can organize your new tab page however it makes most sense to you.
There's the obvious separation of links that you want to have on the desktop vs on mobile, and that's created by default. On each platform, perhaps you want 2 SDs, the initial SD containing links you use very often, and the other has links used less frequently but you want to have quick access to. Another organization scheme might be to create additional SDs based on subject matter - one for news sites, another for tech references, one for sports, another for streaming media, and another for personal items like your financial accounts & bill payment pages. In each SD, you can create multiple folders - in your news SD perhaps you have folders like Politics, Local, Entertainment, and Tech, and each folder has links to multiple news sites for that topic.
As you can see, Vivaldi's Speed Dial is a very powerful feature that enables users to customize their experience to their own needs. If you really like Google's promoted content, you can just add a link to its page on your default SD and it'll be 1 click away every time you open a new tab.

I use, apart from an empty Homepage and Newtab page, several SD folders in the bar, sorted according to importance and frequency of use (Official management, social networks, tools, etc.), So I have everything at the click of a mouse, without having to open a new tab first.

You would like Feedly or TheOldReader (runs on the browser).

Vivaldi Back up | ResetI know him, but I don't like Feedreaders too much, I prefer to directly access the pages in question. In the feeds I certainly see the headlines at a glance, but then I have to access also to see also the other reports. I know that I am something old-fashioned

Please, no google stuff. https://stallman.org/google.html

Jajaja!
Well, You are right, for some situations are uncomfortable, more clicks, and some Feeds forces/needs to read the whole article/comments on its website.
