Content Panel: Detect all resources & block specific item like Script Click extension
-
Currently we can ONLY either block all javascript (or not) via Site settings, this is a good solution for a very long time, on a time when JavaScript aren't widely use in every website. But time have changed & most website today r heavily utilize JavaScript, thus this all or nothing approach have become useless in most cases. Since most website will be broken if all JavaScript r blocked, the practical solution would be ONLY block specific malicious, annoyance, & problematic scripts that hampering user experience.
I think it's time for Vivaldi to upgrade the Site settings by allow user to block specific resources on the website such as js, image, video/audio, etc from a Content panel. Then, add content panel setting into sync & share functions to allow user utilize same setup across all Vivaldi browser, & optionally summit & share it with the community to build a strong defense against malicious/annoyance attack.
There r already extension to do so, it's call Script Click:

I hope V team will consider adopting this extension functions to improve Vivaldi security & provide better experience.

@dude99 Hi, Thanks for your feature request.
This looks like a duplicate of https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/24169/advanced-content-permissions Please vote for that instead, thank you.
If you want to make a feature request, please use the search first to see if you can find similar requests.
I think that if advanced content permissions were implemented you could then just add the settings as a web panel, and get quick access that way.

@LonM Hi, i have read that thread b4 & voted long time ago. But my request is actually different than yours. Please go to Script Click extension store & take a look how it handling individual scripts.
Basically I want to block specific script regardless of domain via panel, it's not the same as uBlock Origin which can only block all script, 1st, or 3rd parties, or all resources from specific domain. Also, I think uMatrix have better GUI & functions than uBlock Origin as it's much details & easier to use, but it also lack ability to block specific Javascript...
So, please remove the "Duplicate" tag & move the request back to proper forum. Thanks.

@dude99 I understand better now - this request is about making every resource loadable on demand.

@LonM YES! Imagine the Link Panel in Classic Opera, but also included all loaded javascript, & user r able to blacklist/whitelist each item individually.
Domain block is good solution for a while, but now some malicious script are often bundled together with other useful script distributed from the SAME domain. Thus if u block the domain, then the website will be broken & useless. Best example would be tracking scripts from *.google.com

@dude99 could be useful for keeping Google blocked, but still allowing captchas because websites insist on using them to the nth degree.
