Whatsapp Panel - can it be fixed please?
-
It's been months I guess.
When I open the panel it may open - most of the times it wont. At this point I try to change it to show mobile/desktop, sometimes this reload is enough. Most of the times I need to open the desktop site, and then the panel, and it will work... until I close the browser. Please someone fix it.
I was using an old Vivaldi version (and the start line agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/75.0.3730.0 Safari/537.36") with worked great, but was forced to update today since this version would not sync anymore. -
-
I also get the "Update Chrome" prompt on WhatsApp web when I use it as a web panel. However, the message goes away if I press the reload button in the panel (the circle arrow button, not the "home"/house button) and WhatsApp loads normally.

Hello there,
are you running Snapshot or Vivaldi 2.6 RC 1?
-
@lamarca RC 1, which happens to be the latest snapshot.
-
Can you please report it?

The web panel will be telling the site that you are on a mobile phone so may not behave properly.
Have you tried changing the web panel to desktop mode ?
Right-click on the web panel icon and then chose "show desktop version" -
@Dr-Flay WhatsApp web doesn't work at all in mobile mode; it just tells you to install the Android/iOS app instead. So I always have it in dekstop mode.

That works, but web.whatsapp.com doesn't work in a normal tabs now. Using 2.6.1566.44 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
WhatsApp works with Google Chrome 36+
To use WhatsApp, update Chrome or use Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge or Opera.
UPDATE GOOGLE CHROME -
@apekiller It works for me in normal tabs, both in Stable 1566.44 and Snapshot 1581.5.

Works now, very strange. haven't even restarted the browser. I guess the browser was whitelisted by whatsapp?

@apekiller works where? i can use it on a tab but not on a web panel. i've tried different ways to make it work, like spoofing ua etc. but none of them are nice & permanent solutions. sometimes i can see a full web page, which is too wide & ugly (and temporal) in a web panel, but couldn't see a nice mobile view, such in telegram.
(sorry, i use vivaldi on mac os. you can delete my message if it acts differently on windows.)

@bbasmaci WhatsApp Web doesn't have a mobile version/view. If you want to use WhatsApp in a web browser, you have to use the full desktop version. I have set my WhatsApp web panel to "separate width" so that I can make it wide enough to fit the chat and the chat list.
I explained the easiest solution to getting WhatsApp to work in a web panel in this post: https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/304032
