web.whatsapp.com can no longer be accessed?!
-
Hi,
"suddenly" I can't "open" https://web.whatsapp.com/ any more – because:Am I the one & only
who can't open this page?
Thanks, webaschtl

For issues with websites (like WhatsApp) blocking based on User Agent. You can often work around the issue like so
-
@webaschtl No. Try a search

sorry, thought, only on my PC (without updating Vivaldi in the last days).
But whats the problem? The Chromium engine in Vivaldi too old?

No, WhatsApp has a bad browser detection.
Okay, but then only recently

no the "Bad Browser detection" it can not be. On computer 1 I have the same problem. on computer 2 not. both computers have the same Vivaldi version and both run with Windows 7 with all updates.

I'm surprised – another computer, same vivaldi version, but no problem with https://web.whatsapp.com/
On the other PC I am using Firefox for this page.
-
I can only get this to work on tab pages with changing the UA. In the webpanels i can't even with executing javascript on said panel.

@webaschtl And you never changed the user agent to get that working?
Thought on this, too. But, no, no changes ...

It could be best to avoid such types of issues not only with whatsapp even with any other widely used applications as it would give a bad impression to the user.

Just downloaded the latest version of Vivaldi (2.5.1525.40 64 bits) and experienced the same problem with whatsapp web. I installed user agent and tried @Gwen-Dragon's solution. It worked on a standard tab but I can't get it to work on the web panels, wich is inconvenient.
-
I still use Firefox on one computer and Vivaldi on the other - despite identical browser versions ...
... but it's okay for me

Sorry for the trouble, the team is looking into this issue. In the meantime please try this workaround that we share here: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/user-agent-spoofing/
It won't work on the web panel unfortunately. Thank you for being patient with us. Also this topic is being discussed in so many topics that I'm closing this one and we'll update you once the fix is out here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/37195/vivaldi-2-5-breaks-whatsapp-web -
