Change search engine by clicking icon in address bar
-
- For custom (and default) search engines
- Something as Opera browser for Android has (See image below and "G" icon beside address bar. By clicking on it User can easy change search engine)
Icon beside "Site info", left, is not natural for browsers. But right beside Add Bookmark is nice place for icon to change search engine.
This small address bar at the right (default) with all custom search engines is really irritating. Plus if you make as i suggested you can remove this field totally and make huge place for Extensions and longer primary address bar.
I do not know how much other Users use this small address bar. I never use it. Almost never, few times for Google Translate but not anymore. -

@Stagger_Lee
Your request needs to be expanded slightly:-
With settings:-- Disable "Show Search Field in Address Bar"
- Enable "Search in Address Field"
Add icon inside Address Field to allow selection of Search engine without using nicknames.
Is this what you are referring to?
-
Yes, just one new icon to switch search engine.
-
@Stagger_Lee Since you have to use the keyboard to enter the search term it may be quicker to use the keyword.
If your default search is DuckDuckGo, for example, type "w Vivaldi" to search Wikipedia.

I know. It is just feature suggestion. When you have time.

"Remove the search field from the address bar" is a horrible, horrible, horrible suggestion. Works perfectly the way it is (and you can adjust its width, which is awesome) and there are already letter shortcuts for the search engines in the address bar, so it's a big "no" vote from me.
-
Search bar (field) would be still up there. Big as Danny DeVito.
I think you did not understand feature request. -
