[2.5.1511.4] Anyone having problems with whatsapp after last snapshot?
-
@Apollyon69 I'm sorry about your difficulties, but you're not helping anything. If you are having problems, you need to specify what they are so that someone can help you figure out what is going wrong.
-
@derDay Webpanels, furthermore, are a bit particular.
So I fear we need a vivaldi extension/feature which can communicate with the UI to change it.
Especially for the reason we have two (unchangeable?) user agents for it: "mobile view" and "desktop view".
WA web as page - with UA spoof - works, while as webpanel don't (on latest snap).@TbGbe I think is always better to spoof with the stable version(chr73). There is little chance that a bug in beta/canary(chr74|75) prevent a site to works. And so they decide to "ban" the respective UA string.
-
@Hadden89 yes, i think we need more options on the panels side.
-
@Gwen-Dragon At least some of them do. Stylus, for example, worked nicely and gave whatsapp a dark theme on the webpanel. It still works on my messenger.com webpanel. Imagus also works nicely on the webpanels, and after trying with a few news sites, ads seem to be blocked by ublock origin on the webpanels too.

This is something related to the chrome 74 vs 73.
Tried the script : https://www.w3schools.com/jsref/tryit.asp?filename=tryjsref_nav_useragent
In both the stable and latest snapshot and the difference is clear:Stable: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 8.0.0; SM-G965F Build/R16NW) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/73.0.3683.105 Mobile Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/2.4.1488.38
Snapshot: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 8.0.0; SM-G965F Build/R16NW) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/74.0.3729.113 Mobile Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/2.5.1525.4

@joao-rossa It is.
But as the engine is on chr74 would be "strange" to spoof the panel with chr73.
I think this issue will be solved soon, as chrome is pushing 74 now.
The best would be an input box to customize the UA string both for desktop and mobile. -
@Hadden89 Does the webpanels navigator use a different "browser" engine? im trying to override the user agent with a modification but it doesnt seem to work.
-
@Gwen-Dragon Yes i was trying to change it, but when i debug it says its the chrome 73 but when i run that w3schools script it says its 74....
-
(function () { navigator.__defineGetter__('userAgent', function () { return "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 8.0.0; SM-G965F Build/R16NW) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/73.0.3683.105 Mobile Safari/537.36 Vivaldi/2.4.1488.38"; });
still does not work.

Why not send them an e-mail about it https://www.whatsapp.com/contact/?subject=messenger
I already did. The more the better, no?

@Gwen-Dragon In the webpanel?

Sorry for the trouble, the team is looking into this issue. In the meantime please try this workaround that we share here: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/user-agent-spoofing/
It won't work on the web panel unfortunately. Thank you for being patient with us. Also this topic is being discussed in so many topics that I'm closing this one and we'll update you once the fix is out here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/37195/vivaldi-2-5-breaks-whatsapp-web -
