remember last open tab
-
Greetings,
I'm using the side panel as my tab manager which I'm very pleased with. I have over 10 tab groups and many tabs per group currently. sometimes I have to scroll up great lengths to open a needed tab. Then when I finished, I may have to switch back to the previously open tab. Is there a way to automatically go back to the previous open tab from the current tab? If not ca this be considered as a request? -
If you set Tab Cycling to "Cycle in Recently Used Order", you can simply press Ctrl+Tab (or maybe Ctrl+Shift+Tab, not sure since I don't use that setting) to jump to your previous tab (similar to how Alt+Tab works in Windows).
There is also a keyboard shortcut for "Previous Tab (Recent)" (and one for "Next Tab (recent)"), which might be of interest to you.

ctrl-tab and ctrl-shift-tab brings out a list. I'm looking for a way to immediately switch back to the last open tab.

Yes... but you don't actually have to use that list; simply press Ctrl+Tab then release, & voila, you're back on the previously used tab.

You can disable the list as @iAN-CooG mentioned.
Or you can bind "Previous Tab (Recent)" (which I also mentioned above). It switches to your previous tab instantly.Note: If you Ctrl+Tab to your previous tab, then you can Ctrl+Tab back to the other tab again. "Previous Tab (Recent)" only goes backwards, so if you want to go forwards again you'll need to bind that to a separate key.
