Switch tabs using arrow keys when mouse is over the tab bar...
-
For tab cycling, please add an option to let us "switch tabs using arrow keys when mouse is over the tab bar".
NOTE: Regardless of tab bar position [horizontal or vertical], all four arrow keys should work. To give us some flexibility with our choice to use either the left/right keys or up/down keys or both sets in combination.
NOTE 2: I'm already aware we can set custom keyboard hotkeys to switch tabs, and I've already done so with F3 and F4. But what I'm requesting is the keyboard equivalent of the "switch tabs by scrolling" feature, and it has its own benefits in some workflows.

Sounds ugly. If you decide to move the mouse out of the tab to get a better view, suddenly the cursor keys will no longer scroll the page but instead switch tabs. Use some keyboard shortcut to focus the tab bar, or click the tab bar (not just hover it) sound reasonable. Then again, don't 1 and 2 already do this?

Go to Settings > Keyboard > Tab > Previous/Next tab > set it to what ever u want.
Personally I set 'em to 1/F1, 2/F2 for order; 3, 4 for recent.
But it can't be done with simply up/down/lef/right, u have to combine with Ctrl/Alt/Shift. It's very customizable, so imho we don't need more hard coded functions to do this.Hope that help.

@TsunamiZ I think it is not possible.
Before the Cursor keys can work, the GUI element needs to be given focus, e.g. the URL field or the bookmarks panel or the menu. Merely hovering the cursor over the tab does not focus the tab bar.
Your best option may be to assign Alt+Up/Down or Alt+Left/Right depending on whether you use the Vertical or Horizontal Tab Bar.

it can work with auto focusing behavior built into the feature, just like how the "switch tabs by scrolling" feature makes the scroll wheel auto switch focus between the page and the tab bar.

Hi, Unfortunately the developers have decided to mark this request as "Will not do", which means this request won't be implemented in Vivaldi.
