Open .CSV Files in Text Editor Instead of LibreOffice

Is there a way to open a CSV File in a Text Editor instead of in the default LibreOffice Calc ?
CSV Files are not Spreadsheets in all cases
Thanks.

@kjhambrick
This isn't a vivaldi problem...
but to answer your question: depending on your Desktop and/or your file manger there should be a submenu in your left-click context menue: "open with ..." which lets you chose the application to work with that file.
Or you simply open a text editor and select the file.cvs you want to open. -
@kjhambrick No replies yet, so although I don't use Linux I will hazard a guess that Drag and Drop would be the best solution.
In Windows, if I want to open an unassociated file type in Notepad, I open Notepad first by opening a plain text file, then drag and drop any other file type. It's quicker than using the Open With submenu.
This works just fine for *.csv files. I don't even need to close the previously opened text file first.
P.S. I did not see the reply by @michaa7 because it took me five minutes to create the screenshots and test this method.

You didn't tell your Distro.
Vivaldi opens the file based on Mime types. You might try to change it.
For me Geany opens CSV files. In the past I had issue with magnet links, fixed. -

I can not repro.

I think the OP does not want to change the default program for CSV file types. The question was how to open CSV files in a plain text editor to save the delay of opening LibreOffice Calc.
-
@Pesala Let's the thread starter tell us his Distro.
Anyway, the mime type files has to be changed. -
Sorry for the lack of information.
I am running vivaldi-stable-2.2.1388.37-x86_64-1ro on Slackware 14.2
aka: Vivaldi stable (2.2.1388.37)
I know about the mime types approach, I was wondering if Vivaldi had a 'Default Application' Dialog like the old FireFox Interface where I could tell Vivaldi to open .csv files with a Text Editor instead of Libre Office.
Some other Apps have a 'local' mime.types file where I can override the Global Magic.
For example: /home/konrad/.mozilla/firefox/1234567.default/mimeTypes.rdf
Does such a file / directory exist for Vivaldi ?
The WebApps that annoy me most are ones with a JavaScript Dialog to access their files ... The Right-Click Context Menu does not exist there ...
Thanks for all the replies !

Hi, Slackware is really awesome, our Linux wizard is a great fan.
AFAIK there is no the dialog you are looking for.
You are welcome.
-
@kjhambrick Vote for Support for MIME Types
Currently, the best way is to download it, then go to the download folder and drag it into your text editor.
-
@Pesala In the current development stage, it's cosmetic.
-
@lamarca It is not cosmetic. It is a huge improvement to one's workflow. That is why the FQ currently has 72 votes.
It's not particularly hard to:
- Open the download panel
- Click on the Find icon to open the folder with the file already selected
- Right-click, and use Open with
However, it is a lot of steps, and downloading files is something that many users do very frequently.
-
@Pesala Performance and stability .........

Yes, the 'ro' suffix on my vivaldi-stable-2.2.1388.37-x86_64-1ro Vivaldi Package stands for ruario
Which is built via his
latest-vivaldi.sh
script.-- kjh
P.S. it is only fair to send a link latest-vivladi.sh
